160
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 4 , 1935
5 : 00 P . M.
Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor , C . G. Lambert , L . C .
Christensen , J . M. Eva , E . A. Fletcher , R. N. Jones , P . A. McCarthy , Geo . W.
McNulty. City Clerk , B . E . Myers . Absent : None .
The minutes of the meeting; of October 21 , 1935 , were approved on motion of Councilman
McCarthy , seconded by Councilman McNulty.
Clif Walk , active in the committee for Redwood City Airport , made a report to the
Council concerning the present status of the development . In order to bring
it before the Council for definite consideration , the City Engineer , on motion
of Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , was instructed to prepare a
report on the feasibility of Airport W.P .A. Project , with the idea that the cost
to the City should not exceed $2 , 000 .
D . L. Walter , of the Walter Realty Company , asked permission to retain his wooden
sign in position. The sign had been in existence contrary to City Ordinance
and when it was taken down for repainting , the Buildint; Inspector indicated
that it should not be replaced as no wooden painted signs were permitted to
extend over the sidewalk. However , on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded
by Councilman Fletcher , Mr . Walter was given permission to retain the sign in
its present position.
Walter Lynch appeared before the Council to present a check for $123 . 02 , balance re-
maining from the collections at the soft-ball field , and to thank the Council
for the courtesies extended to the Soft-Ball League Players during; the season.
W. Hendricks , assistant County Engineer , discussed with the Council the completion
of "Unit C" of the Woodside Road Project , recommending that amended application
on the basis of the Metropolitan Security Wage be made , asking the government
to increase the allocation of its funds to take care of the increase wage scale .
He was told that this was satisfactory to the Council .
Y
I
They City Manager made report of the result of his interviews in Washington concerning
the City ' s different projects and reported favorably. Therefore , on motion of
Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty , he was instructed to pro-
ceed with the Pulga.s Line Storm Sewer Project just as soon as he received official
notification from the government . At the same time he was authorized to arrange
for a 10-foot right-of-way for a storm and sanitary serer along the Pu.lgas Ranch
line and across the property of the General Petroleum Company from Jefferson
Avenue to Middlefield Road , with the idea that in consideration of the granting
of this right-of-way by the company the City would agree to stand the expense
( estimated at about $125) of moving the P . G . & E . Company ' s power line poles to
the center of this right-of-way.
