Per- <br /> mission was granted , on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Eva, with <br /> the understanding that he would pay the same rate which had been quoted a previous <br /> applicant , namely $10. 00 a month payable in advance . <br /> The Clerk was asked to acknowledge receipt of a resolution from the American Legion respecting <br /> the installation of safety appliances at railroad crossings . <br /> City Manager Dimmitt reported to the Council that he had received from the San Francisco <br /> L P .A. office approval of the T . P .A. project' for Airport , and that all that now <br /> remained was to have the final approval at Washington. This was followed by a <br /> general discussion in which John Lyon , Cliff Walk , Charles Cooley , and others , <br /> participated. <br /> In a letter to the Council , the City Tax Collector asked the Council to give her authority <br /> to cancel delinquent taxes amounting to $29 . 22 and penalties amounting to $21 . gg <br /> against Lot 14 , Block 12 , Central Park , a 25-foot lot on Iris Street between Harrison <br /> and Jefferson Avenues . The lot had been " sold to the State " in 1924 and now it was <br /> desired to clear the property in the hope of making a sale , with the understanding <br /> that $19g . g0 would be paid. On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman <br /> McNulty , the Tax Collector was instructed to make the adjustment , <br /> The City Attorney submitted an ordinance establishing the voting precincts in Redwood City, <br /> which ordinance was properly introduced , on motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by <br /> Councilman Christensen. <br /> The Clerk was asked to write Mr. O ' Dea at Los Angeles concerning the favorable action on <br /> the W.P .A. project for Airport . <br /> Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman McNulty , proposed the adoption of resolution by <br /> which the City of Redwood City would employ Orrick , Palmer & Dahlquist as special <br /> counsel in the application of the City to the Supreme Court for a Writ of Mandate in <br /> connection with the $ 25 ,000 refinancing bond issue . Unanimously carried. <br /> The City Attorney presented and explained a resolution under the terms of which the City <br /> would enter into an agreement with the Pacific Gas and Electric Company to buy from <br /> the Company , in case the City took over the electrical distribution system , all the <br /> electricity which the City would buy in the next seven years . It was explained this <br /> was necessary to off- set a possible figure set up by the Railroad Commission to take <br /> care of any loss on the part of the Company , should the City not buy this electricity. <br /> Councilman Jones proposed the resolution , but in the absence of a second , no action <br /> was taken. <br /> The City Attorney asked. the Council to go on record or to give him some idea as to its <br /> attitude as property owners toward the placing of a laundry building opposite the <br /> post office . As the judgment of the Councilmen did not seem to be in accord , no <br /> decision was made . <br /> The City Clerk reported that according to instructions he had written a letter to the Bear <br /> Photo people asking them to do something about the unsightly appearance of the beat <br />
