221 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR ADJOURN MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> AUGUST 10 , 1936 <br /> 10 : 00 A.M. <br /> Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : L. C. Christensen , E. A. Fletcher , <br /> Wm. Hohn , R. N. Jones , G. L. McNulty and City Clerk , B . E. Myers . Absent: Mayor Paul <br /> A. McCarthy and Councilman J. M. Eva. <br /> In the absence of Mayor McCarthy , Councilman Jones was unanimously chosen as temporary <br /> Chairman. <br /> Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, proposed the adoption of the <br /> following resolution which was unanimously carried: <br /> WHEREAS , the City of Redwood City and the Government of the United <br /> States of America propose jointly to improve the navigable channel in Redwood. <br /> Creek by widening , deepening or altering the same , and <br /> WHEREAS , so that there may be no delay in the call for bids in said <br /> work , <br /> THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City <br /> that the City of Redwood City and the Council of said city pledge the Govern- <br /> ment of the United States of America to contribute and pay to the United States - <br /> the sum of $94,000. 00 in cash prior to the awarding of any contract for the <br /> widening , deepening or altering of the navigable channel in Redwood Creek. <br /> Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Hohn , proposed the adoption of the following <br /> resolution which was unanimously carried: <br /> WHEREAS, it ispropo.se& that the City of Redwood City in conjunction <br /> with the United States of America widen , deepen or alter the navigable channel <br /> in Redwood Creek; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has submitted to the United States <br /> of America written permission from the owners of the property on which the <br /> spoils of any dredging are to be deposited; and <br /> WHEREAS , it will be necessary for the future maintenance of said pro- <br /> ject that suitable areas for the disposal of dredge material be provided as and <br /> when needed; <br /> NC:MrTHEREFORE be it resolved by the City of Redwood. City and the City <br /> of Redwood. City pledges itself to the United States of America to furnish to the <br /> United States suitable areas for the disposal of dredge material for the future <br /> maintenance of the navigable channel in Redwood Creek as and when needed by the <br /> United States. <br /> On motion of Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , there was introduced <br /> Ordinance fixing the amount of money to be raised by taxation. <br /> On motion of Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilman Hohn , the Mayor and City Clerk <br /> were instructed and authorized to enter into an agreement with the Redwood City Chamber <br /> of Commerce to handle the advertising for Redwood City.
