aS <br /> 0 <br /> Dr. R . Lee Otis , speaking for the members of the municipal band , explained what the <br /> band had done , what the band was willing and trying to do , and asked the Council <br /> to appropriate money to buy certain instruments too costly for the individna1, <br /> players to buy and uniforms for 30 members , the aggregate requirement being <br /> about $1350 . The appropriation was ordered on motion of Councilman Eva , seconded <br /> by Councilman Fletcher , and carried , with Councilman Hohn and McNulty voting 'To . " <br /> On motion of Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman McNulty , a trailer ordinance <br /> proposed by the City Attorney was introduced . <br /> Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McNulty , proposed the adoption of two resolutions <br /> accepting deeds from Frank S . and Florence M. Lopes , and from Carolina Andreini . <br /> Carried. <br /> It was decided on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman McNulty, that <br /> there be no charge assessed against the Club Modelo for the dance permit granted <br /> for the evening of December 31 , with Mayor McCarthy and Councilman Eva voting "No . " <br /> n <br /> The City Manager was asked to see the Southern Pacific Company about parking on James <br /> and Montgomery Streets. <br /> Mayor McCarthy presented a letter from Mayor Rossi of San Francisco concerning support <br /> in the fight of the Pacific coast to retain the ships of the Panama Pacific and <br /> Grace Line steamship companies in the intercoastal trade . On motion of Councilman <br /> Eva , seconded by Councilman Christensen , it was decided that the Clerk write the <br /> California congressional representatives concerning this matter . <br /> Councilman Fletcher proposed that the Mayor appoint a committee to interview the manage- <br /> ment of the Golden State Mushroom Company to offer the services of the City in <br /> any adjustment of the labor difficulty which could be made . His proposal was <br /> seconded by Christensen and carried. The Mayor accordingly asked Councilman <br /> Fletcher and Councilman Christensen to serve on this committee and offer their <br /> services to the management to help in making any possible adjustment . <br /> The City Manager was asked to make a recommendation as to the practicability of con- <br /> structing a footbridge across the slough to make possible foot traffic from Main <br /> Street at Stambaugh through the block over the footbridge to Jefferson Avenue at <br /> the post office . <br /> The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty , seconded by <br /> Councilman Christensen. <br /> Adjournment . <br /> 4j?
