The foregoing schedule_ of per diem wages is based upon a working day of eight hours , except as otherwise noted. The hourly wage rate prescribed hereinabove is the per diem rate divided by the aforementioned number of hours constituting a working day. The City Manager submitted the following letter : February 13 , 1937 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council Redwood City , California Gentlemen: In preparing the plans for the Harbor , the major item of the accessory construction has been the water supply line from the Redwood City corporate limits to the transit shed , a length of 9 , 720 feet . In the further study of the future requirements since the original preliminary estimate , it seemed advisable to increase the. size of the main from the 6-inch estimated .to the g inch pipe , and on account of a re-arrangement of the entrance roadway an added length was required. As the Redwood City Water Department will assume control and operation of this pipe line when built , it seems proper that funds should be appropriated from that department to pay at least the equivalent of the cost of a service main to supply prospective water users. Accordingly, I recommend that the sum of $8 ,000 be transferred from the Water Depart- ment , charged as capital investment , to the Harbor fund. Respectfully submitted , C. L . Cheatham Henry W. Edmonds Elmore B. Hinman Elmer S. Hurrell John E. McCarthy .
