294 MINUTES OF REGULAR GULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL MAY 17 , 1937 8 : 00 P . M. Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Councilmen L . C . Christensen, J. M. Eve , E. A. Fletcher , Wm . Rohn , R. N. Jones , G. W. McNulty , and. City Clerk , 1 B . E . Myers . Absent : Mayor Paul A. McCarthy . In the absence of Mayor McCerthy , Councilman Eva was chosen to serve as Chairman . The minutes of the meeting of May 3 , 1937 , were approved on motion of Councilman Jones , seconder'. by Councilman Christensen . The City Tax Collector submitted. the following letter to the Council : "On April 19 , 1937 , I was authorized by Mr . J . M . Eva to accept $1 , 070 . 63 on the following property instead of $1 ,400 . 76 , as was actually due if the amount was paid in full . 2/ 3 of Lot 17 , Block 3 , Oak Knoll Manor (Arb . Go - ga.) Due Delinquent Tax $ 152 . 76 Delinquent Weed 20. 4+2 Delinquent J-6 3 +7 . 69 Delinquent K-5 11 . 53 Delinquent F 532 . 57 Penalty Cost on Tax 54 . 69 Penalty on Bond 281 . 10 TOTAL . . $l ,x+00 . 76 On May 5 , 1937 , a check was received in the amount of $1 , 070 . 63 . Will you kindly confirm the above authorization. °i On motion of Councilman McNulty , seconded by Councilman Christensen , the council confirmed authorization given by Councilman Eva. In_ a letter to the Council , signed by Roscoe D . Myatt , Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce , the attention of the Council was called to the recommendation of the Retail Merchants Committee of the Chamber that the Committee favored the pro- , posal of a municipal bus line , subsequently approved by the directors of the Chamber . The matter was laid over until the next meeting . Mrs . Henry Stern , of San Francisco , asked whether or not it would be possible for her to establish a boarding home for children at 182 Westgate . As the location is within the first residential section , Mrs . Stern was informed that the section was restricted and a boarding home for children could not be permitted. Mr . R. Patterson , of Palomar Park , discussed before the Council the advisability of affording some protection at the elementary schools at closing time , indicating that the children ran aut into the streets and were in consider- able danger from automobiles . In connection with the discussion of James Street , it was brought out that there was great need for sidewalks on this street and some nearby streets , and on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Christensen , the Engineer was directed to prepare Plans and Specifications according to the City Procedure Ordinance for the purpose of having sidewalks laid on these streets .
