McCarthy . <br /> In the absence of Mayor McCerthy , Councilman Eva was chosen to serve as Chairman . <br /> The minutes of the meeting of May 3 , 1937 , were approved on motion of Councilman <br /> Jones , seconder'. by Councilman Christensen . <br /> The City Tax Collector submitted. the following letter to the Council : <br /> "On April 19 , 1937 , I was authorized by Mr . J . M . Eva <br /> to accept $1 , 070 . 63 on the following property instead of <br /> $1 ,400 . 76 , as was actually due if the amount was paid in <br /> full . <br /> 2/ 3 of Lot 17 , Block 3 , Oak Knoll Manor <br /> (Arb . Go - ga.) <br /> Due Delinquent Tax $ 152 . 76 <br /> Delinquent Weed 20. 4+2 <br /> Delinquent J-6 3 +7 . 69 <br /> Delinquent K-5 11 . 53 <br /> Delinquent F 532 . 57 <br /> Penalty Cost on Tax 54 . 69 <br /> Penalty on Bond 281 . 10 <br /> TOTAL . . $l ,x+00 . 76 <br /> On May 5 , 1937 , a check was received in the amount of <br /> $1 , 070 . 63 . Will you kindly confirm the above authorization. °i <br /> On motion of Councilman McNulty , seconded by Councilman Christensen , the council <br /> confirmed authorization given by Councilman Eva. <br /> In_ a letter to the Council , signed by Roscoe D . Myatt , Secretary of the Chamber of <br /> Commerce , the attention of the Council was called to the recommendation of the <br /> Retail Merchants Committee of the Chamber that the Committee favored the pro- <br /> , posal of a municipal bus line , subsequently approved by the directors of the <br /> Chamber . The matter was laid over until the next meeting . <br /> Mrs . Henry Stern , of San Francisco , asked whether or not it would be possible for <br /> her to establish a boarding home for children at 182 Westgate . As the <br /> location is within the first residential section , Mrs . Stern was informed <br /> that the section was restricted and a boarding home for children could not <br /> be permitted. <br /> Mr . R. Patterson , of Palomar Park , discussed before the Council the advisability <br /> of affording some protection at the elementary schools at closing time , <br /> indicating that the children ran aut into the streets and were in consider- <br /> able danger from automobiles . <br /> In connection with the discussion of James Street , it was brought out that there <br /> was great need for sidewalks on this street and some nearby streets , and on <br /> motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Christensen , the <br /> Engineer was directed to prepare Plans and Specifications according to the <br /> City Procedure Ordinance for the purpose of having sidewalks laid on these <br /> streets . <br />
