Considerable discussion v'as elicited as to the desirability of granting <br /> the permit . However , finally , it appeared that if the persons concerned desired <br /> to present this film without making a charge and open to the public , that no permit <br /> would be necessary . <br /> Mrs . M.irnmottes , the City Collector , submitted the follovring letter : <br /> "On June 21 , 1917 , I was authorized by Mr . J . Y . The <br /> letter also requested the Council to take steps to prevent the granting of such <br /> a permit . On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Eva , the <br /> Clerk was instructed to Trite to the Board of Eq,ial izatlon opposing the granting <br /> of a permit to this Safer-a;r Store to sell spirituous liquors , Mayor McCarthy <br /> voting "iio " . <br />
