307
There was considerable discussion concerning construction of sidewalks on James Avenue
and adjacent streets . It was questioned whether or not contractors would make a
bid if they had to accept 1911 Act bonds for unpaid balances. It was finally
decided to have the engineer file a report showing the district he would recommend
to be included for this work and also indicating the lots which have assessments
on them at present .
No action was taken on the proposed ordinance requiring survey of lots before building .
Councilman Eva proposed that George Paul be sent to San Francisco to interview certain
property owners who have permitted their taxes on lots in Redwood City to become
delinquent , with the idea that perhaps Mr. Paul could persuade the property owners
to execute a quit claim deed to the City for their lots . Mr. Paul was to be
allowed expense money , of course , and was also empowered , where necessary , to
offer a payment of $10 . 00 for the execution of the quit claim deed. This on
motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Jones .
The City Attorney was asked to work up the details of the procedure in connection with
the "in lieu" tax.
On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the City Manager was
authorized to go ahead with the construction of the convenience station at the
Playground , corner of Middlefield and Chestnut . On motion of Councilman Fletcher,
seconded by Councilman McNulty , it was decided to name this playground the
°Cheptnut Street Plavground. 0
The departmental reports were ordered filed.
The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty , seconded by
Councilman Hohn.
Adj ournment .
City Clerk
BEM:HAS
I - - -
