308 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL JULY 19 , 1937 8 : 00 P. M. Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor Paul A. McCarthy , -- Councilmen L . C . Christensen , J . M . Eva, E , A. Fletcher , R. N . Jones , Wm. Hohn , and G . W. McNulty , and City Clerk , B . E . Myers . The minutes of the regular meeting of July 6 were approved on motion of Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilman Hohn. Mayor McCarthy appointed Mrs . Z . T . Thorning and Mr. 0 . A. Whittenburg to succeed themselves on the Board of Library Trustees as of July 1 , and the appointment was approved by the Council on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Christensen. There was read a letter from the State Board of Equalization in which there was out- lined somewhat the procedure for complaints against the granting of permits to sell liquor in Redwood City. On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councils man Hohn , it was decided to have the Chief of Police refer to the Council any application for transfer of licenses or for new application for permit to sell hard liquors. On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Eva, the Clerk was instructed to have the firms operating taxis in Redwood City file with him a tariff schedule showing their charges . Discussion of James Street sidewalks was laid over until the second meeting in August , Councilman Pletcher , seconded. by Councilman Eva, proposed the adoption of the follows ing resolution which carried unanimously . "RESOLVED , by the Council of the City of Redwood City , that in conformity with Chapter 397 of the Statutes of 1931 of the State of California, and other laws , that the minimum compensation to be paid for any skilled or unskilled labor for work provided in the contract for furnishing materials and performing accessory construction at Wharf and Transit Shed on Redwood Creek at Redwood City , San Mateo County , California, shall be not less than specified as follows : Trade or occupation Per Diem Hourly Rates for Legal Holidays Wage Wage Rate and Overtime Welders $11 . 00 $1 . 37? Double Time Welders Helpers g. g0 1 . 10 Caulkers g . g0 1 . 10 "The foregoing schedule of per diem wages is based upon a working day of eight hours , except as otherwise noted. The hourly wage rate prescribed here- inabove is the Per diem rate divided by the aforementioned number of hours constituting a working day. " Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McNulty , proposed that ordinances and resolutions be mailed to the councilmen at least three days before the meet- ing at which such ordinances and/or resolutions would be considered .
