346 <br /> Port Manager Walter F. Murphy submitted a letter from the Port Commissioners suggesting <br /> that in appreciation of the efforts put forth by Elmore Hinman in obtaining a com- <br /> mercial port for Redwood City that the street or roadway extending from Harbor <br /> Boulevard to the harbor property be named "Hinman Road" . In compliance with the <br /> suggestion of the Port Commissioners and the Port Manager , Councilman Fletcher , <br /> seconded by Councilman Eva , proposed the adoption of resolution naming this road- <br /> way "Hinman Road" . Carried unanimously . The Clerk was then requested to notify <br /> Mr . Hinman and also send him a special letter of thanks and appreciation . <br /> Mr . Theron Seitz , representing the tennis tournament members , requested permission <br /> to have a social dance in the Woman' s Club house on the night of November 13 <br /> and asked that the customary charge be waived. Permission granted on motion of <br /> Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman McNulty . <br /> Following the reading of a petition signed by a number of property owners along <br /> that particular roadway , Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman Christensen , <br /> proposed the adoption of the following resolution : <br /> "RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that the name of <br /> RAMONA AVENUE , from Redwood Avenue to Vera Avenue , be , and the same is hereby , <br /> changed to VALOTA ROAD , and that the name of PEARL STREET , from Vera Avenue <br /> to Jefferson Avenue , be , and the same is hereby , changed to VALOTA ROAD , <br /> "And be it further resolved that the following described strip of land , <br /> to-wit : <br /> "A strip of land 60 feet in width lying 30 feet on either side of a center <br /> line described as follows , <br /> "BEGINNING at the point where the center line of Ramona Avenue extended <br /> in a straight line southeasterly intersects the southeasterly line of Redwood <br /> Avenue , ( said point being also described as a, point on the northwesterly line <br /> of Lot 45 of Reese Subdivision distant S . 420 17 ' W . 312 . 97 feet from the <br /> most northerly corner of said Lot 4+5 - thence from said point of beginning <br /> across said Lot 45 and on a line parallel to the southwesterly line thereof <br /> S . 450 30 ' E. 357 . 91 feet , thence continuing along the arc of a curve to the <br /> right tangent to last mentioned course and with a radius of 300 feet for a <br /> distance of 157 feet more or less to the southeasterly line of said Lot 45 , <br /> containing 0 . 75 acres and being a part of Lot 45 as shown on that certain <br /> entitled "Map of the Reese Subdivision of a part of the Redwood Farm , " filed <br /> March 22 , 1905 , in Book "B" of Maps at page 5 , in the Recorder ' s office of <br /> San Mateo County , State of California, <br /> be , and the same is hereby named VALOTA ROAD . " <br /> Carried. <br /> Following the naming of the thoroughfare "Valota Road" , Councilman Fletcher , seconded <br /> by Councilman Christensen , moved the adoption of the following resolution : <br /> "RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that VALOTA ROAD in <br /> said City of Redwood City , from the Woodside Road to Jefferson Avenue be <br /> declared to be a road of major importance in said City . " <br /> Carried. <br /> At this time on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman McNulty , the <br /> Council ratified and approved letter of the City Manager dated November 1st , <br /> reading as follows : <br />
