No definite <br /> action was taken , although it was decided , on motion of Councilman Eva , seconded <br /> by Councilman Christensen , that the Mayor appoint a committee from the Council <br /> to serve with the City Manager to consider this application from Friendly Acres , <br /> and also to adopt a policy which would cover situations of this character . <br /> Mayor McCarthy appointed the following: Councilmen J . M . Eva , L . C . Christensen , <br /> and City Manager C . L . Dimmitt . <br /> The committee appointed to give further consideration to the Perry Street parking <br /> lot had not met , and no definite report was made . <br /> The City Attorney said he had nothing definite to report in connection with the <br /> franchise of the P . G. & E . , but thought something specific could be ready for <br /> the next meeting . <br /> Mr. Walter Vandervort , g07 Maple Street , San Mateo , made application to the Council <br /> for permission to establish certain bus routes in Redwood City , as indicated <br /> on map submitted with the application , indicating a willingness to arrange <br /> charges to meet the approval of the Council and the people of Redwood City. 9 <br /> The Council expressed a willingness to cooperate with Mr . Vandervort and in- <br /> structed the City Attorney to draw up a suitable resolution , the terms of which <br /> would enable Mr . Vandervort to operate the buses as indicated for a preliminary <br /> period of two years , with the right to abandon the project if it proved to be <br /> unprofitable , and also to make it possible for the city either to charge Mr . <br /> Vandervort a license tax , or take over the project later at a reasonable com- <br /> pensation should it be desired. This on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded <br /> by Councilman Eva. <br /> Discussion concerning utilization of the present Central School building for a City <br /> Hall was laid over until the next meeting . <br /> On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Christensen , the City Tax <br /> Collector was authorized to accept $2g0 in full payment of taxes , street assess- <br /> ment , weed charges , penalties and costs assessed against Arb . Block 203 , Lot 21 , <br /> or Lot 24 in Block B , Pays Redwood Gardens , total amount due being $305 . 87 . <br /> The City Attorney explained the difficulties of working out a satisfactory ordinance <br /> or an amended ordinance to take care of the sale of lots now held , or to be held , <br /> by the city . However , he submitted a cony of an ordinance which he suggested <br /> that the city adopt . In accordance therewith , on motion of Councilman Fletcher , <br /> seconded by Councilman McNulty , there was introduced an ordinance amending <br /> Section 41 of Ordinance No . 327 , which ordinance provides for the assessment , <br /> levy , and collection of taxes . <br />
