365 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> FEBRUARY 7 , 193g <br /> g : 00 P. M. <br /> Upon roll call the following Councilmen were Present : Councilmen L . C . Christensen, <br /> J . M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher , Wm. Hohn , It N . Jones , G. W. McNulty ( came in late ) , <br /> Mayor Paul A . McCarthy , and City Clerk B . E . Myers . <br /> The minutes of the meetings of January 17 and 24 were approved on motion of Councilman <br /> Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br /> There was read a letter from the Veterans of Foreign Wars indicating that the organ- <br /> ization endorsed the Clean-up Campaign and had appointed on its committee Frank A. <br /> DePatta , Albert S . Mayer , and Elmer H. Brown. The Clerk was instructed to acknowl- <br /> edge the letter and refer it to the City Manager. <br /> In another letter to the council , the Veterans of Foreign Wars promised support and co- <br /> operation of the Post in the celebration of another harbor festival this year , if <br /> held . The Clerk was instructed to bring up this matter at the March meeting . <br /> A letter from the Redwood City Lions Club concerning the planting of trees which had <br /> been furnished by that organization was referred to the City Manager , as was another <br /> letter from the same organization concerning a general clean-up campaign. <br /> In a letter to the Council the Redwood City Real Estate Board , by Teddy Lauman , asked <br /> the policy to be followed by the city in connection with the sale of the lots taken <br /> over , and to be taken over , by the city for delinquent tax and assessment payments . <br /> The clerk was instructed to refer the letter to Mr. George Paul for his reply . <br /> The City Manager submitted the following letter to the Council : <br /> " Subject to your approval , Mr . R. C . R. Morser has been appointed by <br /> me as a member of the Redwood City Port Commission to serve the un- <br /> expired term of the late Elmore B . Hinman , This term will expire <br /> on the first Monday in July , 1940 . " <br /> On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Christensen, the Council <br /> ratified the appointment by Mr. Dimmitt of R. C . R. Morser to the Redwood City <br /> Port Commission. <br /> The City Clerk , on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Fletcher , was instructed <br /> by the Council to protest to the State Board of Equalization against the application <br /> for liquor license for the sale of distilled spirits by Martin Wynne doing business <br /> as the 2321 Club , at 2321 El Camino Real . <br /> Mr . E. M . McGlade , representing the West Coast Advertising Company , asked for permission <br /> to erect advertising panels at certain locations in the city. In order to consider <br /> the matter carefully , it was thought best to refer Mr. McGlade to the Planning Com- <br /> , <br /> mission for that body to pass on the locations desired by this company . <br /> Mr . B . J . Smith , of the community known as Friendly Acres , appeared before the Council <br /> to ask if anything could be done to have that community connected with the Redwood <br /> City water supply .
