368 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> FEBRUARY 21 , 1938 <br /> g : oo P . M. <br /> Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present : Councilmen L . C . Christensen , <br /> E . A. Fletcher , Wm . Hohn , R . N. Jones , G. W . McNulty , Mayor Paul A . McCarthy , <br /> and City Clerk B . E . Myers; absent , Councilman J . M. Eva. <br /> The minutes of the meeting of February 7 were approved on motion of Councilman Jones , <br /> seconded by Councilman Hohn . <br /> Councilman McNulty proposed , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , that the council recon- <br /> sider the application of Martin Wynne , at 2321 (El Camino Real ) Club and with- <br /> draw its protest . Motion carried with Mayor McCarthy voting "No " . The clerk <br /> was instructed to write the State Board of Equgl.ization withdrawing the protest , <br /> and ask at the same time that in furnishing names of applicants for licenses <br /> that the council be given the address of the applicant as well . <br /> There was received and filed a resolution from Redwood City Post 105 , The American <br /> Legion , referring to the John Gill Memorial , and especially recommending im- <br /> mediate study of the feasibility of early construction of a new library adequate <br /> to the needs of the city. Mayor McCarthy expressed the appreciation of the <br /> Council for the spirit prompting the resolution . Members of the Board of <br /> Library Trustees were present and Mrs . Kalenborn as their representative ad- <br /> dressed the Council , seeking an expression from the Council as to whether or <br /> not the present was the time to consider building a new library . It was finally <br /> suggested the Library Board study the matter further and perhaps bring a recom- <br /> mendation to the Council . <br /> On motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman McNulty , the City Treas- <br /> urer was authorized to deduct from salaries amounts agreed upon by employees <br /> for hospital and medical expense and to pay out said deductions for that service <br /> with the understanding that there be no expense to the city. <br /> In a letter to the Council , Mr . Dole , Secretary for the Board, of Library Trustees , <br /> inquired about clearing the title of the library property in anticipation of <br /> a sale . The city attorney reported he had been having this matter under con- <br /> sideration with the title company and would see that it was taken care of . <br /> On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman McNulty , the city treasurer <br /> was instructed to issue a warrant for $75 as a contribution to the work of the <br /> Boy Scouts . <br /> The Italian American Progressive Club , by its Secretary C . S . Grandi , called the <br /> attention of the Council to unsightly conditions about the city. The letter <br /> was referred to the Manager and the Clerk was instructed to write the owner <br />
