371 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL MARCH 7 , 1938 g : oo P . M. Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present : Councilmen L . C. Christensen , J . M . Eva , E. A . Fletcher , Wm. Hohn , R. N. Jones , G . W. McNulty , Mayor Paul A. McCarthy , and City Clerk B . E . Myers . The minutes of the meeting of February 21 were approved on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Fletcher . On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Hohn , it was decided again to authorize a half-page ad in the California Real Estate Association ' s magazine to be published in June at a price not to exceed $55 . On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Christensen , the following applications for restaurant licenses were approved and granted : Leo Garcia 2303 El Camino Real John 0 . Vines 701 El Camino Real Robin Hood ' s Creamery 2219 Broadway Lock Drug Co . 2201 Broadway B & E Shoppe 2626 Broadway Caroline ' s Place 739 Chestnut Street Fox Shoppe 432 El Camino Real Blake ' s Candy Store 806 Main Street New Canton Cafe 2078 Broadway Pat ' s Place g57 Main Street A J Stone 2632 Broadway Introduction on February 7 of ordinance amending Ordinance 327 was rescinded on motion of Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman McNulty . Following this , a new ordinance amending Section 41 of Ordinance No . 327 providing for the assessment , levy , and collection of taxes was introduced on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Council - man Christensen. On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Eva , there was introduced ordinance licensing and regulating the running and conduct of tool and billiard rooms and bowling alleys . Pursuant to request of the Council , the City Manager filed an estimate of the cost for widening Broadway between El Camino Real and the Southern Pacific Railroad , which estimate showed an approximate figure of $12 ,000 , including $1 , 400 by the Water Department ; omitting the Water Department figure , the cost would approximate $9 per front foot . On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman McNulty , the City Manager was asked to ascertain the attitude of the property owners affected and if there would be any inclination on their part to stand the cost of the im- provement . Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman McNulty , proposed the adoption of resolution calling a general municipal election , setting up the tolling places , and indicat- ing the election officials . Carried.
