377 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL April 4 , 193g 8 : 00 P . M. Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present : Councilmen L . C . Christensen , J . M. Eva , E . A. Fletcher , Wm. Hohn, R. N. Jones , G . W. McNulty , Mayor Paul A. McCarthy , and City Clerk B . E . Myers . The minutes of the meeting of March 21 were approved on motion of Councilman Hohn , seconded by Councilman Fletcher . The City Manager reported the opening of bids for work on Valota Road and recommended awarding the contract to W. 0 , Tyson , the lowest bidder , his figure being $4 , 208 . 70 , itemized as follows : Grading-Cutting , 512 Cu. Yds . , 0 . 25; Grading-Filling , 387 Cu . Yds . , 0 . 10 ; Macadam Pavement , 63 , 200 Sq . Ft . , 0 . 0625; ig" Galy . Culvert , $92 . 00 . The other bidders and the amount of their bids appear below: L . C . Smith $6 , 520 . gg Granite Construction Co . , Ltd. 4 , 32x+. 80 0 . V. Freeman , 225 . 50 Grant and Hoffman 4 , 666 . 53 w. 0 . Tyson 4 , 20g . 70 Palo Alto Road Materials Co . 5 , 313 . 85 Following; the recommendation of the City Manager , the contract was awarded to W. 0 . Tyson on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Christensen. The City Manager in a communication to the Council called attention to the delinquent berth rent account of Mr . George Kneese at the Yacht Harbor , explaining that the boat had been used by Mr . L . F . Bosshardt for the purpose of training young men for service in ,the Merchant Marine . The City Manager suggested that inasmuch as Mr. Kneese was donating the use of the boat and that Mr . Bosshardt , in addition to donating his time , could hardly afford to pay the expense of the berth fee , the Council waive the charge against the Kneese boat now delinquent and until further notice . To this the Council agreed on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Eva , leaving the matter in the hands of the City Manager. Councilmen McNulty and Jones reported what was done at a meeting of the Real Estate Board concerning the use of signs . It was understood that a committee from the Real Estate Board consisting of Werder , Witte , and Lambert was to confer with the City Attorney in an effort to work up a satisfactory ordinance . The attorney promised the ordinance by next meeting if the committee saw him in time . City Attorney Albert Mansfield presented to the Council the matter of a Trustees Petition in Bankruptcy for the confirmation of the sale of property in the matter of Horace B . Gardiner , also known as Horace B . Gardner , bankrupt , No . 26102-L in the Southern Division of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California; the property involved being a portion of what is commonly called Wharf Street in the City of Redwood City and on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McNulty, he was directed by the Council to oppose the con- firmation of the sale of the portion of the property described in the pettion and
