:a60 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> JANUARY 17 , 193g <br /> g : 00 P. M. <br /> Upon roll can the following Councilmen were present : Councilmen L . C . Christensen , <br /> J. M. Eva, E . A. Fletcher , Wm. Hohn , R. N . Jones , G. W. McNulty , Mayor Paul A. <br /> McCarthy , and City Clerk B . E. Myers . <br /> The minutes of the meeting of January 3 were approved on motion of Councilman Christen- <br /> sen and seconded by Councilman McNulty . <br /> Mrs . Florence Donnelly , with other ladies representing the Peninsula Hospital. Auxiliary , <br /> addressed the Council concerning the desirability of having a local hospital , and <br /> on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Christensen , they were <br /> authorized to initiate the preliminary investigations by asking the California <br /> Medical Association , or some agency which that association might indicate , to make <br /> a survey . <br /> W. M. Rosenblum , representing the Tidewater Associated Oil Company , again requested per- <br /> mission to construct a service station at the northeast corner of El Camino Real <br /> and Hopkins Avenue , the project having been approved by the Planning Commission. <br /> On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman McNulty , permit was granted <br /> provided the plans and specifications meet the approval of the Building Inspector. <br /> There was read a letter from the Real Estate Board of Redwood City , the essence of which <br /> was that there had been discrimination shown against the members of the board in <br /> appointments to Redwood City committees and commissions . The Clerk was instructed <br /> to thank the Real Estate Board for the indication of its willingness to cooperate <br /> in City projects and to say that when opportunity arose , consideration would be <br /> given to the members of the Real Estate Board. <br /> P . J . Dwyer of 406 Lincoln Avenue , appeared before the Council and also filed a written <br /> application for a veteran' s free license to pick un junk within the city. He ex- <br /> plained he intended only to pick up the junk and sell it immediately to Sam Gold <br /> who is in the junk business . On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Council- <br /> man Christensen, it was decided to allow Mr . Dwyer a veteran ' s free license pro- <br /> vided he furnished sufficient evidence of being a permanently and totally disabled <br /> war veteran and approved by the local United Veterans Council , permit revocable <br /> at the pleasure of the Council . <br /> In a letter to the Council the Redwood City Planning Commission recommended that Mr . <br /> 0 . Oleson be permitted to move his used car lot equipment from the corner of El <br /> Camino Real and James Street to his new car agency at the corner of Middlefield <br /> Road and Main Street . On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman <br /> Christensen , the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved . <br />
