As requested by the Council , the City Manager filed a memorandum of the cost of constructing
a footbridge connecting Main Street and Jefferson Avenue in which he showed an estimate
of the cost as follows :
Purchase of Right-of-Way $2 , 000
Timber Footbridge 700
Filling and Concrete Walk 100
TOTAL ESTIMATED COST . . . . . . $3 , 000
It was thought the cost too high and that the $2 , 000 for purchase of right -of-way
might be eliminated by acquiring an easement rather than buying the right - of-way .
The matter was referred back to the Manager with instructions to inquire about the
easement with a reasonable tenure and at a nominal cost if it could not be obtained
without cost .
William Alves and Harry Lower made written request for a permit for the purpose of hold-
ing amateur boxing bouts at the Foresters Hall .
