As requested by the Council , the City Manager filed a memorandum of the cost of constructing a footbridge connecting Main Street and Jefferson Avenue in which he showed an estimate of the cost as follows : Purchase of Right-of-Way $2 , 000 Timber Footbridge 700 Filling and Concrete Walk 100 TOTAL ESTIMATED COST . . . . . . $3 , 000 It was thought the cost too high and that the $2 , 000 for purchase of right -of-way might be eliminated by acquiring an easement rather than buying the right - of-way . The matter was referred back to the Manager with instructions to inquire about the easement with a reasonable tenure and at a nominal cost if it could not be obtained without cost . William Alves and Harry Lower made written request for a permit for the purpose of hold- ing amateur boxing bouts at the Foresters Hall . There seemed to be no objection if the gentlemen would provide the cost of a special officer , when necessary , and also pay any local license fees in addition to a state license , and it was so ordered. On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Christensen , permits for restaurant licenses were granted to the following : June Bunyard 7oodside Road & Gordon Street Bob ' s Cafe 22 - Woodside Road Welcome Inn 546 - Hamilton Street Joe Arce 2236 - El Camino Real Sodini ' s Tavern 2345 - Middlefield. Road Charley ' s Place 1705 - El Camino Real Sequoia Creamery 2655 - Broadway Garafoli ' s 1628 El Camino Real The Waffle Inn 2327 - Broadway Dan ' s Place 757 - El Camino Real. Europa Cafe 2135 - El Camino Real Kung Yiet Cafe 2246 - El Camino Real L . Bolyard of Borden ' s Daily Del . 2600 - Broadway The City Manager and Wayne Millington discussed the suggestions of the Parks and Recrea- tion Committee that there should be built at the Hawes Park a grandstand for the benefit of the spectators who would wish to use it . It was promised by Mr . Milling- ton , on behalf of the players , that there would be sufficient receipts to repay the City for the estimated cost of $ 600 for this construction. With this understand- ing and on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Eva , the Manager was told to proceed . On motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman McNulty , the City Treasurer was authorized to pay to the J. B . Perry Estate for the rent of the Perry Street park- ing lot $50 . 00 as rent from January 1 to January 31 and $37 . 50 from February 1 to February 28 . After filing Affidavit of Publication , on motion of Councilman Eva , seconded by Council- man Fletcher , Ordinance No . 404 , dividing the City of Redwood City into election precincts and establishing the boundaries thereof , was unanimously adopted . The City Manager brought up the question of the request of the Hotel Empire , San Francisco , to erect a bill board along the Bayshore opposite the S . H. Frank Company property ,
