403 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> JULY 5 , 193g <br /> Upon roll call the followin.c were present : Mayor L . C . Christensen , and Councilmen <br /> Harold F. Anderson , E . A. Fletcher , William Rohn , Robert Y . Jones , Paul A. <br /> McCarthy , George W. McNulty , Clerk B . E . Myers . <br /> The minutes of the meeting of June 20 were approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher , <br /> seconded by Councilman Anderson . <br /> The City Collector submitted the following letter: <br /> "On June 17 , 1938 , Mayor Christensen and City Manager Dimmitt <br /> recommended that the sum of $202 . &4 be accented in settlement <br /> of the charges on the following property , instead of $250 . 70 <br /> actually due , if the total amount was paid in full . <br /> The property referred to is Arbitrary Blocc 335 , Lot 6 or <br /> legal description - S . W . 45 feet of Lot 11 , Block 8 , Range E <br /> assessed in the name of D . L . Walter . <br /> Delinquent Taxes $ 65 . 76 <br /> Delinquent Bond L 132 . 05 <br /> Tax Penalties - Costs 13 . 50 <br /> Bond Assessment Penalty 31 . 39 $250 . 70 <br /> A check has been received in the amount of $202 . 84 . Will you <br /> please confirm the above authorization? " <br /> On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Anderson , the authoriza- <br /> tion requested was given. <br /> The protest against the opening and operating of a Tap Dancing School at 221 Hudson <br /> Street was ordered filed. <br /> On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman McCarthy , D . R. Stafford <br /> was reappointed to serve on the Planning Commission . <br /> Following the recommendation of the City Manager , Mr . E . S . Hurrell was reappointed <br /> to serve as a member of the Redwood City Port Commission , beginning July 1 , 1938 . <br /> The Redwood Highlands Company by its secretary , Mrs . Chapman , filed a petition re- <br /> questing that Nevada Street be paved between Brewster and Hopkins Avenue . It <br /> was explained to the Council that the Highlands Company owns more than one half <br /> of the frontage , and therefore on motion by Councilman McCarthy , seconded by <br /> Councilman McNulty , the City Attorney and Superintendent of Streets were in- <br /> structed to start the necessary Proceedings under the Redwood City Improvement <br /> Ordinance to have the work done as requested . <br /> Property owners and others interested , filed Petitions requesting the grading and <br /> paving with concrete of Quartz Street and Avenue Del Ora. After a discussion <br /> as to the amount of frontage represented by signers of the petitions , and the <br /> probability of some protest , it was finally decided , on motion of Councilman <br /> Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Anderson , to ask the City Attorney and Super- <br /> intendent of Streets to initiate proceedings according to the Redwood City <br /> Improvement Ordinance , to have this work done , with instructions to investigate <br />
