REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
AUGUST g , 1938
10 : 00 A. M.
Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present : Councilmen H . F. Anderson,
E. A . Fletcher , Wm. Hohn , Paul A. McCarthy , and City Clerk B . E . Myers ; absent ,
Mayor L. C . Christensen, Councilmen Robert N . Jones and Geo . W. McNulty .
In the absence of Mayor Christensen , on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by
Councilman Anderson , Councilman McCarthy was chosen to serve as chairman .
Affidavit of publication concerning the Board. of Equalization meeting was ordered
filed on motion of Councilman Anderson , seconded by Councilman Fletcher. Carried.
Meta B . Raettig , 2277 Cecilia Avenue , San Francisco , protested the assessed valuation
of $400 placedon her property , Lot No . 3 in Block 9 of New High School Acres .
She stated this assessed valuation was considerably in excess of any possible
market value . In order to afford any relief , it would be necessary to reassess
all the lots in that particular section, and no action was taken to reduce this
one lot . However , in an effort to equalize values , the City Assessor , on motion
of Councilman Anderson , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , was instructed, in making
up the assessment roll for the following year , to make a resurvey of that section
with the idea of lowering values .
William Jamieson , owning property at the corner of Stambaugh and Main Streets , stated
the taxes on his property were too high . No action was taken.
The City Assessor submitted the assessed values for the different sections of the
City and asked that the amount be ratified , which was done on motion of Council-
man Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Anderson.
On motion of Councilman Hohn , seconded by Councilman Anderson , the Board of Equalization
adjourned sine die .
City lerk
BEM:HAS
419
