47 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR M +NTING <br /> ' Da t OOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> NOVEMBER 6 , 1933 <br /> g: 00 P . M. <br /> Upon roll call , the following Councilsen were present : Mayor W. J . Dusel , H. A. Beeger , C . J. <br /> Hildebrant , R. N . Jones , C . G . Lambert , Paul A. McCarthy , Geo . W. McNulty , City Clerk, <br /> B . E. Myers . Absent : None . <br /> The minutes of the meeting of October 16 and the special adjourned meeting of October 23 were <br /> approved on motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br /> The application for a permit to establish a home for Chinese children on Valota Road case up <br /> for rehearing and the Clerk presented a petition which had been submitted , making protest . <br /> However , Mrs . J. E. Webster , representing the Presbyterian Synod , appeared before the <br /> Council and stated that in consideration of the protest which had been made that she wished <br /> to withdraw the application. <br /> Alcoholic beverage licenses were granted on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br /> Beeger , to the following: <br /> Ella Hermosillo 1679 El Camino Real <br /> Larrecou & Maloney 2666 El Camino Real <br /> Frank Espey, 501 Carlos Avenue , asked the Council if anything could be done to have his neighbor <br /> reizove the goats that were quartered near his house. The matter was referred to the Health <br /> Officer to try to work out some friendly agreement to eliminate the condition. <br /> A Mr . Gooder again appeared about a permit to peddle fruit in a small way and he was referred to <br /> the Chief of Police . <br /> William Jamieson , as requested by the Plumbing Inspector , asked the Council what he was to do in <br /> connection with a job of plumbing in his own building at the corner of Main and Stambaugh <br /> Street . The Plumbing Inspector stated that Mr . Jamieson had not secured a permit to do the <br /> work , and that the work was not according to ordinance . Finally , on motion of Councilman <br /> Jones , seconded by Councilman Hildebrant , a permit was given , with the understanding that the <br /> work would be done to the satisfaction of the Plumbing Inspector and open for inspection . <br /> V . L. Doppee , plumber , addressed the Board concerning the amount of license fee which he had been <br /> charged , claiming that as he lived in Redwood City he should be charged $25 . 00 rather than <br /> the $50. 00 he had been charged because his place was outside the City . The matter was laid <br /> over for consideration. <br /> Because of the imminent change in liquor regulation due to the probable repeal of the lath Amend- <br /> ment , Councilman McCarthy addressed the Council concerning a plan of City control of liquor <br /> storage , distribution, and sale . Following Councilman McCarthy ' s discussion of the liquor <br /> control in Redwood City , it was decided , on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Council- <br /> man Jones , to have the Clerk write the Board of Equalization that Redwood City is giving <br /> consideration to a City control of liquor storage , distribution , and sale with, perhaps , the <br /> possibility of asking that the City be given the sole right to sell rithin the city limits . <br /> On motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Hildebrant , the City Attorney was authorized <br /> to attend a meeting in Los Angeles on November 10 to confer with other attorneys concerning <br />
