Liifl <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> NOVEMBER 20 , 1933 <br /> 8 : 00 P .M. <br /> Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor , W. J. Dusel , H . A, Beeger , C . J. <br /> Hildebrant , R. N. Jones , C . G. Lambert , Geo . W. McNulty , City Clerk, B . E. Myers . Absent : <br /> Paul A. McCarthy. <br /> The minutes of the meeting of November 6 were approved on motion of Councilman Lambert , seconded <br /> by Councilman Beeger . <br /> P . E. Brand , and V . C . Vissiere of the Gas Appliance Society , spoke before the Council concern- <br /> ing the adoption of a model gas code or ordinance . Mr. Greer of the Pacific Gas & Electric <br /> Company also spoke on the subject . As some of the Council members were not familiar with <br /> the code , the matter was left over until the next meeting so that the attorney might have <br /> time to study the proposed ordinance and the members of the Council could familiarize them- <br /> selves with it . <br /> On proposal of Councilman McNulty , seconded by Councilman Hildebrant , the following resolution <br /> was unanimously adopted. <br /> WHEREAS the number of accidents on the Bayshore highway is increasing <br /> to a point where the highway is becoming unsafe for public use , and <br /> WHEREAS the underpass structure on Bayshore highway at South San <br /> Francisco is a contributing factor to these accidents , and <br /> WHEREAS this structure is too small to handle peak traffic loads , im- <br /> pedes ordinary daily travel and is particularly hazardous by reason of a blind <br /> curve , and <br /> WHEREAS the increasing traffic load and increasing number of accidents <br /> demand that this situation be given immediate attention , now therefore <br /> BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that <br /> we urge the State Highway Division to widen the underpass at South San Francisco <br /> as soon as possible , to provide for separate north and south bound traffic lanes , <br /> in the interests of public safety and in the interests of facilitating peninsula <br /> automobile traffic . <br /> Adopted this 20th day of November , 1933 by unanimous vote . <br /> B .
