EXHIBIT "A"
PUMP STATIONS #1 AND #3 CITY OF REDWOOD CITY
SCOPE OF SERVICES February 19, 2002
BACKGROUND

The City is proposing to rehabilitate two existing sewage pump stations. Pump Station #1 is
located at Twin Dolphin Drive and Marine Parkway. It receives sewage flows from one
upstream pump station. The inflow pipe on the south wall of the wetwell needs to be grouted.
The two pumps at Pump Station #1 need to be upsized to manage more flow. Additionally, the
pumps need to be standardized to submersible types to handle pump failures more quickly.

Pump Station #3 is located in Marlin Park at Bark and Trident Drives. Pump Station #3 has two
pumps that receive sewage flows from six upstream pump stations. The pump station has
deteriorated with age and is experiencing an increase in the frequency of repairs. The packing
gland bolts on pump #1 are broken, so the pump must be removed and disassembled for repairs.
The check valves on both pumps are either badly leaking or broken and are in need of
replacement. The pump station drywell has groundwater leaking in from the floor plug.
Rehabihtating these pump stations will eliminate these problems as well as provide standardized
submersible pumps for easier preventative maintenance and quicker emergency response times.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

This Scope of Services provides for the preparation of design documents for the rehabilitation of
the pump station. The following Tasks will be performed:

Phase A. Project Management

This task provides the overall management the project. The tasks include but are not limited to
the following:

· Providing project coordination, communicating project issues with the City of Redwood
City, setting up the project including developing Nolte's project work plan, preparing a
project design schedule as well as monitoring and updating that schedule, tracking and
reporting job progress.

· Perform Quality Control Reviews and Quality Assurance Audits of design.

Phase B. Design Development

Task 1. Preliminary Desi~

Perform hydraulic calculations. Deternfine pump station flows and compare with pump curves.
Research existing utilities and show on site map. Perform one day of field surveying per pump
station to establish inverts of pipes at existing manholes, as well as confirm locations relative to
significant local features. The survey will augment and clarify utility information based on City
provided as-built plans as well as locate existing structures and trees. During a site inspection
pump data will be collected as well as pump cycle time measurements.
