5a. Mayor La Berqe announced that the City would honor the members of its <br />boards, committees and commissions at the annual Christmas dinner to be held <br />on December 12, 1990 at the Circle Star. <br />5b. Councilman Murray advised 1990 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of <br />Sequoia Hospital and requested the City take an active part in the <br />celebration. <br />MEMO 9/18/90 <br />5c. Councilman Murray happily reported on his parents 50th wedding anniversary <br />party at the Sofitel Hotel on Sunday, September 16, 1990. <br />5d. Councilwoman Buchan reported on the successful 2nd annual Project Read <br />Trivia Bee held on September 7, 1990. <br />5e. Councilwoman Buchan congratulated all the participants and the City on the <br />successful Sunflower Festival held on September 15th and 16th. <br />5f. Councilwoman Buchan congratulated Hispanos Unidos for their successful <br />celebration of Mexican Independence Day at Mervyn's on September 15, 1990. <br />5g. Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) (301 -06) <br />Report: Community Development Director, 9/29/90 <br />Director Pawloski presented the staff report and described the proposed <br />schedule for the BID amendment process, the establishment of a Formation <br />Committee to be appointed by the Mayor, and the decisions to be made at the <br />Public Hearing on March 11, 1991. <br />Councilman Bury expressed concern regarding what assessments would be made, <br />who would be affected, what recommendations and impacts this committee would <br />have, the need for other revitalization efforts, size of the district, and <br />formula to be used, and representation on the committee. <br />Reg.
