d. Mayor La Berge commented on the events of the day held to honor guests <br />from the Port of Redwood City's Sister Port Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, <br />China that she, Vice Mayor Bury and Councilwoman Buchan attended. Mayor <br />La Berge advised that both cities are pursuing the possibility of becoming <br />Sister Cities. <br />------------------------------------------------------------------ - - - - -- <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />3. Status of the proposed Relocation Policy (203 -01) <br />Report: Community Development Director, 9/27/90 <br />Housing Coordinator Church presented the staff report. <br />In response to Council questions City Attorney Schricker advised that State <br />law requires relocation assistance be monetary and not in -lieu housing; and, <br />State law obligates Cities to pay relocation costs due to code enforcement, <br />but cost can be passed on to property owner; and, state law does not address <br />new construction where no public agency involved. Also, the Council can <br />confer jurisdiction of the appeals process to the Housing and Human Concerns <br />Committee if it so chooses. <br />Councilman Greenalch suggested that the policy, when adopted, be applied to <br />all dwelling units equally, and echoed the sentiments of his colleagues that <br />the Council would hear final appeals. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />STAFF REPORTS <br />4.
