Peter Hughes, 18 Admiralty Place, Redwood City, Board of Directors <br />Paul Sanfilipo, 138 Woodsworth Avenue, Redwood City, Board of Directors and <br />First Vice President <br />George Fakhouri, 555 Veterans, Redwood City, Chief Financial Officer <br />The following Kiwani members addressed the Council describing history of <br />Kiwanis Carnival operation in Redwood City; talks with the PCA, the <br />mediation process; and advised that even though the Carnival was outside the <br />scope of the PCA and its festival the Kiwanis would be willing to share the <br />profits on a 25/75 basis: <br />Philip Wang, 5 Miller Court, Redwood City <br />Chuck Rigg, 298 Woodside Drive, Woodside <br />Council Members questioned the speakers and discussed the history of <br />carnivals during the Fourth of July celebration; the mediation process; and <br />the need for an agreement between these two fine organizations. <br />M /S: Greenalch /Claire to issue a permit to the Woodside Terrace A.M. <br />Kiwanis Club with a 25/75 profit share with the PCA with the City of Redwood <br />City paying $500 to PCA, and the agreement to extend through three years. <br />Discussion of the question ensued and Assistant City Manager Jean described <br />an earlier tentative agreement offered during mediation which would keep the <br />City out of the monetary agreement: A 30/70 profit share and the City waive <br />the $250 per day parking fee charged to the Kiwanis and a three year <br />agreement. <br />This amendment was accepted by the originator and the second of the original <br />motion. <br />The amended motion read: M /S: Greenalch /Claire to issue a permit to the <br />Woodside Terrace A.M. Kiwanis Club with a 30/70 profit share with the PCA, <br />the City of Redwood City will waive the $250 /per day parking fee, and the <br />agreement to extend through three years; and if this agreement is not signed <br />by the PCA, then the Kiwanis Club may apply for the Permit without <br />including the PCA in shared profits. <br />Carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Council Members Claire, Greenalch, Murray and Mayor La Berge <br />NOES: Council Members Buchan and Bury <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 90 -164 <br />21a.
