8.3.B. - Page 67 <br /> 8.2.3 Except as provided in RCPSA MOU Section 8.2.2, in the event the City <br /> proposes to change the schedule described in RCPSA MOU Section 8.2.1 to any <br /> alternative schedule, the Association shall be notified at least ten (10) days in <br /> advance of the proposed change and given the opportunity to meet and confer <br /> regarding the impact of such proposed change prior to implementation. <br /> 8.2.4 Except as provided in RCPSA MOU Section 8.2.2, in the event the Police <br /> Supervisors Association or the City proposes to discontinue the three (3) day, <br /> twelve and one-half(12.5) hours per day schedule and return to the four(4)day, <br /> ten (10) hours per day weekly schedule as outlined in RCPSA MOU Section <br /> 8.2.1, a three (3) month notice will be given and the schedule change would take <br /> place at the next regular shift change in February or August. <br /> 8.3 Time Off for Examination <br /> Promotional examinations scheduled by the City during an employee's regular working <br /> hours may be taken without any loss in compensation. <br /> 8.4 Assignment of Employees <br /> 8.4.1 Employees holding the permanent rank of Police Sergeant will be allowed to bid <br /> for non-specialty positions based on their assigned seniority within the Police <br /> Sergeant rank. Probationary Police Sergeants may be assigned by the Chief of <br /> Police or his/her designee to fill those spots not selected by permanent Police <br /> Sergeants. <br /> 8.4.2 All Police Sergeant specialty assignments shall be subject to the eligibility <br /> requirements set forth in Redwood City Police Policy Manual Section 1004 2.1. <br /> Additionally, if no non-probationary Police Sergeants apply for an open Police <br /> Sergeant specialty assignment, probationary Police Sergeants will be eligible to <br /> apply in variance of Redwood City Police Policy Manual Section 1004 2.1(b). If <br /> no Police Sergeants apply for an open specialty assignment, the position will be <br /> assigned to the junior Police Sergeant assigned to Patrol. A Police Sergeant may <br /> apply for any of the below open specialty assignments regardless of the position <br /> they hold at the time of the opening: <br /> a. Detective Sergeant <br /> b. Street Crime Suppression Team Sergeant <br /> c. Training Sergeant <br /> d. Traffic Sergeant <br /> e. Downtown Services Unit Sergeant <br /> f. Narcotics Task Force Sergeant <br /> 8.4.3 Employees holding the rank of Police Lieutenant will be assigned by the Chief of <br /> Police or his/her designee to one of four (4) positions: Investigations <br /> Commander, Administrative Lieutenant, Patrol Watch Commander weekday <br /> shift, and Patrol Watch Commander weekend shift. <br /> 21 <br />
