8.1.C. - Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> October 24, 2016 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Purchase of Four Ford F-350 Trucks <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> By motion, approve the purchase of four 2017 Ford F-350 Trucks in the amount of <br /> $212,149.50 from Towne Ford of Redwood City, California <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Redwood City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for <br /> evaluating vehicles and equipment in order to replace them at the most economically <br /> advantageous point in their life cycle. At pre-described intervals, vehicles and <br /> equipment undergo a thorough evaluation including but not limited to, age, mileage, <br /> condition, maintenance history, downtime, anticipated future repairs, usage and vehicle <br /> capabilities. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (PRCS) <br /> and the Public Works Services Department (PWS) have four vehicles (three and one <br /> respectively), that are scheduled to be replaced in the current fiscal year (FY). The <br /> Public Works Fleet Section met with representatives from both PRCS and PWS and <br /> have agreed that all four vehicles should be replaced with 2017 Ford F-350 Trucks, as <br /> they will meet the rigorous demands of both departments. <br /> On September 2, 2016 a Notice Inviting Sealed Bids was published in The Daily News <br /> with a submission deadline on September 22, 2016. Copies of the bid notice were <br /> emailed to three local dealerships with additional copies available at the Public Works <br /> office located at 1400 Broadway, Redwood City, CA 94063. The received bids were <br /> opened by the City Clerk on September 22, 2016, and are summarized in the following <br /> table. <br />
