8.1.C. - Page 2 <br /> Name of Bidder Unit Cost per Total for all 4 <br /> Vehicle Vehicles <br /> Towne Ford <br /> (Redwood City, CA) 4 x $53,037.25 $212,149.00* <br /> Hansel Ford 3 x $53,883.75 <br /> (Santa Rosa, CA) 1 x $55,518.75 $217,170.00* <br /> Salinas Valley Ford 3 x $54,038.96 <br /> (Salinas, CA) 1 x $55,673.96 $217,790.84 <br /> Recommended Bidder: Towne Ford <br /> Substantiation: Towne Ford was the lowest bidder. <br /> *Totals have been corrected for addition errors. <br /> The recommended action is to award the bid to Towne Ford because they were the <br /> lowest responsible bidder and met the vehicle requirements in the bid specifications. <br /> Additionally, through previous transactions, the Fleet Section of the Public Works <br /> Services Department has found Towne Ford to be a very responsive and responsible <br /> bidder. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> The four vehicles scheduled for replacement have already exceeded their useful life and <br /> it would not be economically viable to invest in the continued use and repair of these <br /> vehicles if they were to experience a major breakdown due to their age and condition. <br /> Not approving the purchase of the trucks would negatively impact the operations of the <br /> PROS and PWS since the vehicles are intended to be used on a daily basis. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> Funds in the amount of $212,149.00 are available in the FY 2016-17 Equipment <br /> Replacement Fund Budget for the purchase. This amount will be subsequently <br /> recovered from the operating budget of the user department through vehicle <br /> replacement charges in future years. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br /> This action is not a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality <br /> Act (CEQA) because the purchase of four Ford F-350XL Trucks will not cause a direct <br />
