passing lane. This intersection has become even more dangerous because people
are racing to get ahead of each other at the Canada College light, and traffic
calming measures must be implemented now. I have raised this concern several
times and it has been dismissed with no action repeatedly. Any cost spent now on a
speed triggered speed limit sign, stop sign, or similar will be much cheaper than the
lawsuits the city will face when someone loses a loved one. I will do my best to attend
the meeting on November 7th to make this case more clearly; the lack of concern for
safety from the City has been frustrating.
To summarize, I support the Farm Hill changes, but the job is incomplete and the Eden Bower
intersection needs to be addressed.
Best regards,
Dennis Hussey
On Mon, Oct 17, 2016 at 7:36 PM, CD-Jessica Manzi <jmanzi@redwoodcity.org> wrote:
Quick update:
At a special meeting on Oct. 5, the Complete Streets Advisory Committee voted to
recommend that the City Council:
Make the pilot project permanent
Modify elements of the design to improve traffic operations, and
Continue to monitor the corridor and make adjustments as needed.
Over fifty people attended the meeting, and 31 spoke during the public comment period.
Most people spoke in support of making the pilot permanent and many people who spoke,
regardless of their support for the project, suggested modifications to the existing design to
either improve traffic operations or safety. Some of the locations identified for
modifications were Farm Hill/McGarvey intersection, Emerald Hill/Farm Hill intersection,
and the Jefferson/Highland curve. A recording of the meeting is posted under “Community
Engagement” on the project website and is accessible by clicking here. Copies of the project
evaluation report and its summary are also available on the project website here.
If you were unable to attend the meeting, you may continue to email input to
farmhillfeedback@redwoodcity.org or to mail it to City Hall c/o Jessica Manzi.
Next Steps: The City Council will consider the pilot results and the recommendation of the
Complete Streets Advisory Committee at its November 7th City Council meeting.
Jessica Manzi, PE
Senior Transportation Coordinator, Community Development Department
8.A. - Page 83
