<br />MEMO 2/27/91 <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Mayor La Berge advised the task force, including Council Members Buchan, <br />Claire and Murray and citizens at large, appointed to look at the youth <br />playing fields in Redwood City has met with Director Griffiths of Parks, <br />Recreation and Community Services, work has started and a report will be <br />prepared. <br /> <br />Mayor La Berge advised that she has been asked to become a member of the <br />Citizens Action Council for the Redwood City Elementary School Board and <br />will the first meeting will be on March 2, 1991 with six more over the next <br />two or three months. <br /> <br />d. <br /> <br />e. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Buchan advised the Park and Recreation Commission will be <br />discussing the playing fields task force on February 27th and two <br />commissioners will be appointed to serve on it. <br /> <br />f. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Buchan advised she has also been asked to participate in the <br />Citizens Action Council meetings with the Redwood City Elementary School <br />Board. <br /> <br />g. <br /> <br />Councilman Bury requested that before a determination is made about a <br />Sister City for Redwood City that the Council get involved in discussions <br />with a broad participation of citizens of Redwood City to determine their <br />willingness for such a program and to look at common interests and <br />compatibilities of proposed Sister Cities. <br /> <br />Councilman Greenalch requested an item be put on the agenda for Monday, <br />March 4, 1991, Study Session to be held at the Main Library: consideration <br />by the Council to match the contribution of last year to the Winter Shelter <br />in the City of San Mateo. Councilman Greenalch advised that although the <br />Redwood City contribution does not appear in the literature of Winter <br />Shelter as other cities' do, Redwood City is deeply involved in providing <br />care for the homeless in many ways: with over $500,000 invested in Redwood <br />Family House on Locust; a temporary housing program provided through our <br />Housing Department; and leasing property for long term low cost housing <br />such as Pine and Middlefield. <br /> <br />h. <br /> <br />-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />a.
