Small business development and job training programs through local community college, <br />vocational programs, and non-profit organizations will target income persons requiring <br />immediate job skills or skills enhancement. The programs will be short term in nature <br />intended to put people to work after training periods as short as five months. During the review of the City's Housing Element, the Council <br />committed to: <br />1. Meet annually to assess the City's housing needs with the Housing and Human <br />Concerns Committee and the Planning Commission. <br />2. Explore City's goals related to affordable housing <br />a. Use resources of organizations currently providing housing services to <br />Redwood City residents to help in identifying other solutions. <br />b. Initiate a Housing Summit involving the Council, Planning Commission, <br />Housing and Human Concerns Committee, Chamber of Commerce, CEO's <br />and other stakeholders to explore needs of persons who live and/or work <br />in Redwood City and identify programs which would create homeownership <br />opportunities for moderate income persons. <br />c. Analyze infill opportunities between 101 and El Camino Real and El <br />Camino Real to Hudson Streets for possible new construction <br />opportunities. <br />3. Strive for housing diversity and balance which does not divide residents by <br />culture, economics, or geographic location <br /> <br /> <br />
