<br />5. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />A. PUBLIC HEARING - to consider an amendment to the Land Use Plan of the <br />Strategic General Plan, changing from "Intermediate Commercial" to "Light <br />Industrial" for an area generally bound by Whipple Avenue, Arguello Street, <br />the continuation of Alden Street, and the railroad. (201-06) <br /> <br />Affidavits of Publication of Notice of Public Hearing and Mailing are on <br />file. <br /> <br />Report: <br /> <br />Planning Commission, August 20, 1991 <br /> <br />Mayor La Berge announced that the three (3) Public Hearings scheduled <br />tonight regarding rezoning and/or amending the General Plan would be held <br />concurrently. <br /> <br />Planning Director presented the staff report. <br />Mayor La Berge opened the Public Hearings at 7:48 p.m. <br /> <br />Stella and Tom Thompson, 1001 Veterans, Redwood City, expressed support for <br />these amendments which will allow them to apply for a permit to <br />construct a drive-through window at their Carl's Jr. restaurant. <br /> <br />Ed Hansen, owner of the property at the corner of Whipple and Arguello, <br />expressed concern that the property his family has owned for over 100 <br />years would be lost to development. Planning Director Patterson and <br />Council Members thanked Mr. Hansen for taking such good care of his <br />property and assured him that these amendments and rezoning would not <br />adversely affect his property. <br /> <br />M/S: Stangel/Bury to close the Public Hearing. <br />Carried by unanimous voice vote and Hearing closed at 7:58 p.m. <br /> <br />Title read.
