6.1.E. - Page 2
Name of Bidder
Golden Gate Truck Center
(Oakland, CA)
Sacramento Truck Center
(Sacramento, CA)
Delta Truck Center
(Stockton, CA)
Recommended Bidder: Golden Gate Truck Center
Total for 2 Vehicles
$262,963.56
$265,955.34
$277,056.98
Substantiation: Golden Gate Truck Center was the lowest responsible bidder.
The recommended action is to award the bid to Golden Gate Truck Center because
they were the lowest responsible bidder and met the vehicle requirements in the bid
specifications. Additionally, through previous transactions, the Fleet Section of the
Public Works Services Department has found Golden Gate Truck Center to be a very
responsive and responsible bidder.
ALTERNATIVES
The two vehicles scheduled for replacement have already exceeded their useful life and
it would not be economically viable to invest in the continued use and repair of these
vehicles if they were to experience a major breakdown due to their age and condition.
Not approving the purchase of the trucks would negatively impact the operations of the
PRCS and PWS since the vehicles are intended to be used on a daily basis.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $262,963.56 are available in the FY 2016-17 Equipment
Replacement Fund Budget for the purchase. This amount will be subsequently
recovered from the operating budget of the user department through vehicle
replacement charges in future years.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This action is not a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality
Act (CEQA) because the purchase of two Freightliner Dump Trucks will not cause a
direct physical change in the environment or reasonably foreseeable indirect physical
change in the environment.
