6.3.C. - Page 4 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY RESCINDING RESOLUTION 14645 AND ADOPTING A REVISED <br />POLICY FOR THE PRICING OF RECYCLED WATER <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City ("City") currently provides potable and <br />recycled water services to a variety of customers; and <br />WHEREAS, on May 23, 2005, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 14645, <br />approving a policy for the pricing of recycled water which priced the delivery of recycled <br />water at a lower retail cost than drinking water; and <br />WHEREAS, the practice of delivering recycled water at a lower retail cost than <br />drinking water is wide -spread in the water utility sector to generate timely momentum and <br />interest in the initiative; and <br />WHEREAS, staff's research suggests that a higher discount is warranted for non - <br />irrigation customers who face greater retrofit fees; and <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to maintain an incentive for recycled water ratepayers <br />while ensuring that the operations and maintenance costs of the Recycled Water System <br />are recovered; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council Utilities Committee has discussed pricing for recycled <br />water at a recent meeting and along with staff, recommends the recycled water pricing <br />policy that is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference; and <br />WHEREAS, the City now desires to update the pricing of recycled water. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The City Council hereby rescinds Resolution 14645. <br />2. The City Council hereby adopts Exhibit "A" the "City of Redwood City <br />Recycled Water Pricing Policy", which is incorporated herein by reference. <br />3.
