SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAV <br />A. Presentation of Proclamation honoring the Times Tribune as it begins its <br />100th year of continuous publication (301-04) <br />Vice Mayor Bury presented the proclamation to Janet McGovern thanking the <br />Times Tribune for its outstanding service to Redwood City. Ms. McGovern <br />introduced her colleagues from the Times Tribune, Gae Reck, Wendy Richards <br />and Marc Burkhardt. <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />B. Presentation of Proclamation declaring DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAV IN <br />REDWOOD CITV, on Monday, January 20, 1992 (301-04) <br />Mayor La Berge read the tribute to Dr. King and presented the proclamation <br />to Nancy Bey Little, member of the Martin Luther King,Jr. Celebration <br />Committee for seven years. Mrs. Little advised there would be a special <br />commemoration of Dr. King's birthday on Wednesday, January 15, 1992 at <br />5:00 p.m. in the County Courthouse in conjunction with a tribute to long <br />time local civil rights activist, William Carter, who died last year. <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />C. Presentation of replacement POW/MIA flag <br />Charles McAleer and Bob Page, Quartermaster of VFW Post 2310, presented a <br />new POW/MIA flag to the City to replace the one flying in front of the <br />Police Department, and thanked the Council for showing concern for over <br />10,000 POWs/MIAs from the Korean conflict and the Viet Nam war. Mayor La <br />Berge stated the Council was proud to accept the flag and would fly it with <br />honor. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />4.
