12 0 5 <br />Herkner voting yes, Councilmen Granger and Petersen voting no, Councilmen Bury <br />and Rosselli noted absent. (MINUTE ORDER #66-133) <br />Councilman Henderson moved the requested appropriation for $1,000 for barbeque pits <br />be deleted from the Budget, motion lost for lack of a second. <br />Councilman Henderson moved to delete the $2600 appropriation for replacement of worn- <br />out playground in Community Park, seconded by Councilman Granger, motion having <br />lost on roll vote, Councilmen Granger, Henderson voting yes, Councilmen Keekley, <br />Petersen, and Mayor Herkner voting no. <br />The appropriation of $4,000 for City beautification and tree planting was discussed. <br />Councilman Granger suggested that wooden tubs containing redwood trees be placed <br />on Main Street from Broadway to the railroad tracks. He stated his investigation <br />showed this could be done for a nominal cost of $400, if they were built by the <br />I <br />Park Department, for the Centennial Year. This expenditure was authorized by <br />general agreement of the Council. Councilman Petersen requested a list of the <br />varieties of trees which can be planted in sidewalk areas so that possible choices <br />could be exercised. (Memo 6/16/66) <br />This concluded the Capital Improvement Budget review, whereupon Councilman Granger <br />moved that his former recommendation to reduce the tax rate by 05¢ be approved at <br />this time. Motion lost for lack of a second. Councilman Petersen then moved that <br />the Budget as amended to date be approved by the Council, seconded by Councilman <br />Granger and lost on roll call vote. <br />Councilman Granger left the meeting at 2:20 P. M. <br />Since only four Councilman remained to discuss the Budget, and the Mayor and Coun- <br />cilman Petersen had urgent appointments making it necessary for them to leave the <br />meeting, the time of the next budget study was discussed. <br />After various suggestions were offered and discarded for the next Budget Study <br />Meeting date, Councilman Henderson moved that Council meet at 6:30 A. M. on Friday, <br />June 17th, in office of City Manager to conclude budget studies, seconded by <br />Councilman Petersen. After discussion, Councilman Henderson moved to amend her <br />motion to set the time for 7:00 A. M. to 8:15 A.
