M. by Mayor Herkner.
Discussion on appointment to Planning Commission. Councilman Petersen stated he had
submitted Marty Mohr's name for the vacancy. Councilman Rosselli submitted name
of Mynin Wong for Board of Building Review. Action deferred until regular meeting.
Planning Director stated Planning Commission had requested that an interim report be
made to Council on their consideration of the prezoning of the Arthur and Blevin's
property at Canyon and Oak Knoll, mainly for purpose of their guidance, as item
to be up for Commission action on July 26th.
He reviewed history of this parcel as to its commercial use in the past and up
to its inclusion for possible annexation through efforts of Wm. Barnett and pre -
zoning consideration to RH by Council directive to Planning Commission that it be
zoned commercial. He reviewed Planning Commissions present study of this parcel as
to commercial zoning as had been directed and their desire to also present other
considerations for zoning this parcel. Planning Director from illustrated slide
compared this corner and its isolation from neighborhood commercial center across
the streets and improbability of enlarging to a neighborhood commercial develop-
ment unless consideration given for enlarging area for this purpose, as this one
parcel as commercial not considered good planning with adjacent RH zoning recently
adopted.
In this respect, he advised Mr. Barnett had made an application for rezoning front
portion of his adjoining parcel for commercial zoning to allow small type office
building in view of consideration to be given for commercial zoning on the Arthur
& Blevins property. He also advised of the consideration made for zoning this
parcel R-4 in view of the adjoining apartment house developments. Councilman
Rosselli felt commercial development would be more acceptable than apartment zoning
in view of the drainage problem in this particular area. After further questions
by Council and various opinions expressed, as to zoning this parcel, Planning
Director stated final solution on zoning would be attempted which would be
acceptable to property owners to extent possible.
Brief discussion held on Harbormaster's Quarters. Councilman Bury stated that
Committee finds that the plans and specifications are acceptable.
Councilman Bury mentioned subject of bussing children from Friendly Acres Area to
Community Swimming Pool and said the project is doing very well.
Minutes of Regular Weekly Meeting
Redwood City Council
July 25, 1966 8:00 P. M.
Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Henderson.
Invocation led by Reverend Ronald Barton, First Congregational Church.
ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Robert H. Bury, Floyd D.
Granger, Mary W. Henderson, Herbert G. Petersen, John S. Rosselli, Mayor Sidney
D.
