258
I
Fire Chief reported he felt this to be a natural part of our obligation because we
are the closest fire department to the hospital and we are part of the District,
although responsibility for fire protection coverage for hospital normally belongs
to State Forestry Department. Motion seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried
unanimously on roll call vote, councilman Keckley being noted absent.
Mayor Herkner acknowledged and welcomed Councilman Eve S. Sterry, of Belmont, present
in the audience.
Report on Charles Wood's Use Permit for business establishment at 2535 Middlefield
Road presented by Zoning Administrator indicating conditions imposed by Council
had not been completely complied with. Planning Director advised on the additional
check made as of this date to see if any additional work had been completed in
compliance with conditions since report submitted as of July 29th, and which indi-
cated some doubt as the apparent compliance concerning parking of vehicles.
Planning Director pointed out there had been no significant deadline placed by
Council for complete compliance by Mr. Woods.
Discussion held on possible procedures necessary to enforce compliance or revo-
cation of right to operate this business, as various Councilmembers indicated
their own personal inspection of the premises showed evidence of lack of effort
to comply with conditions. Assistant City Attorney advised of Twenty-five day
limitation which would be set for compliance if the matter is referred back
through Planning Commission for revocation of the Use Permit.
Mr. Woods appeared in his own behalf to urge proposed action
not be taken as he was attempting to comply with conditions
imposed.
Explanation given to Mr. Woods as to timing if revocation proceedings are re-
initiated.
Councilman Rosselli moved to refer this matter back to Planning Commission for
re -initiating revocation proceedings on this Use Permit, seconded by Councilman
Henderson and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #66-174)
Councilman Granger requested lot adjacent to this business operation, on the
corner of Middlefield and Charter, be cleaned up and property owner billed for
same. (Memo 8/2/66)
Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt ORDINANCE NO. 1260 AMENDING SECTION 43 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 1232, THE SALARY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, PERTAINING TO SALARY
FOR POSITION OF CITY MANAGER, seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried unani-
mously on roll call vote, Councilman Keckley being noted absent.
Request of Vikingland, 812 Middlefield Road, for extension of time for their Closing -
Out Sale presented for consideration. Council was advised request was made for an
extension of fifteen days, to August 15th, for purpose of disposing of balance of
their stock, permit having been authorizing originally by Council for thirty days,
from July 1st to August lst.
City Manager advised Staff recommended extension be granted for additional fifteen
days because of specialized nature of their inventory, such as furniture and wearing
