X58 <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5196 ENDORSING "STAMP OUT CRIME <br />CRUSADE". <br />Mr. John H. Garrity, President of Independent Insurance <br />Agents Association of Redwood City, Inc., appeared to <br />state association's intent to initiate this program. <br />Police Chief stated his appreciation for support of this — <br />program and its need on a local level. He recited in- <br />stances in other cities where this program had proved its <br />success in aiding law enforcement, and expressed hope of <br />community cooperation. <br />Motion seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll call vote. <br />State College Site (Edgewood Hills) report. <br />Councilman Rosselli, Chairman of Council Committee for Selection of State College <br />Site, reported on meeting attended with official representatives for State College <br />Planning, to discuss in depth the Phase II Preliminary Report for site selection. <br />He reported he felt responses made in answer to questions posed by the Architect <br />and his Staff were well received, and which had been requested to be submitted in <br />writing. He advised proposed letter of intent had been prepared by Staff offering <br />answers to the inquiries, approved by the Council Committee, and now ready for Coun- <br />cil's approval. Councilman Rosselli asked that City's response be read so that all <br />interested parties could be made aware of the conditions imposed by the Architect. <br />City Manager read report addressed to Mario J. Ciampi, whose firm of architects is <br />charged with developing the preliminary report on criteria and factors for a college <br />site in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, dated November 21, 1966, copy of which <br />submitted to Council; (For full text see City Clerk's File - State College Site). <br />It was stated intent of correspondence was to clarify both the questions raised <br />during the meeting and the recommended conditions for acceptance of the proposed <br />site covering the following points: <br />1. Clarification of zoning designation RH-120P (detailed analysis <br />of present zoning for property under consideration given as an <br />exhibit) <br />2. Willingness of neighboring jurisdiction to effectuate land use <br />for zoning in the best interests of college. (Exhibit attach- <br />ment from City Administrator of San Carlos regarding anticipated <br />improvements in traffic patterns and land use planning) <br />3. Clarification of availability and cost of proposed site. (Letter <br />from Mr. Aubrey Fairfax attached covering subject of availability <br />and cost. <br />4. Additional data relative to geology of proposed site. (Letter <br />from Matteo V. Fasanaro, Business Manager of San Mateo College, re- <br />lating to their experience in using on-site materials in their adjacent y <br />site to reduce construction costs.) <br />5. Quantity and quality of available housing units. (Review of rental <br />housing compiled by City's Planning Staff attached, to supplement <br />previous information. Also, letter from City Administrator of <br />San Carlos regarding planned development of 590 apartment units <br />near proposed site) <br />Specific conditions for acceptance of Edgewood Hills site comprised following items: <br />1. Use of watershed land under jurisdiction of County of San Francisco. <br />2. Appropriate government agencies assuring completion of Junipero Serra <br />Freeway by 1972, or other conditions, should this not be possible. <br />3. Guarantee for eventual widening of Edgewood Road; <br />4. Provision of second access road from Canada Road into buildable portion <br />of site. <br />
