M <br />5. Guarantee of eventual construction of California from site to <br />Farm Hill Blvd., or extension of Edgewood Road. <br />6. Zoning restrictions within area of State College being maintained, <br />except for limited changes as to needs. <br />7. That City and/or County guarantee adequate Police and Fire Protection. <br />Mr. Alyn Beals, 1826 Industrial, representing North Red- <br />wood Neighbors, Inc., indicated concern with City's <br />commitment in letter of intent concerning traffic situation <br />in northern part of City. He assured Council they were not <br />opposed to State College but concerned with traffic pro- <br />blems which would result. <br />City Manager assured those present of the problems which would ensue should State <br />College be chosen for this site, but also stated it would be some five or ten years <br />before college actually in operation and of the small beginning enrollment before <br />full capacity reached in additional eight years, to insure time to resolve problems <br />which would arise without destroying finest residential area of the City. <br />Mr. Rossman, 11 Springdale Way, questioned purchase price <br />of property involved, and expressed concern for City's <br />making any commitment at this point before public hearings <br />which would be necessary to resolve problems of zoning, <br />traffic, etc. <br />City Manager advised purchase price stated at $8,650 average per acre and restated <br />time element for resolving problems involved. <br />Mr. Jack Stuart, Chairman of Citizens Committee, stated <br />Committee well aware of problems involved and felt answers <br />submitted in way of expression of opinion only, not <br />necessarily commitments by City to do everything required. <br />He also advised numerous letters on file supporting college <br />site from those property owners adjacent to property. <br />Mayor Herkner commented on fact that backing by Redwood City of this site much <br />greater than any other communities had received for their sites, and apparently <br />a large majority of citizens of Redwood City favored college being located here. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to accept Committee's and Staff's report and authorize <br />Staff to proceed as outlined, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll <br />call vote, Councilman Keckley being noted absent. (MINUTE ORDER #66-238) <br />Councilman Henderson suggested letters of appreciation be sent to those who had <br />helped get together the information that was needed to submit to Mr. Ciampi, <br />Architect in charge. (Memo 11/22/66) <br />Mayor Herkner ordered a ten minute recess at 10:30 P.M. <br />Friendly Acres Water System. <br />City Manager reported on firm recommendation at Staff level that City proceed to <br />acquire this system. He advised he would prefer not to go into detail as to methods <br />of acquisition at this time because of potential litigation that might be involved. <br />He further reported on possible financing in current budget of $53,000 of which a <br />portion to be used toward improvement of system already initiated by 18" transmission <br />line going into Bay Road and considered first stage in long range program to improve <br />_ system when acquired. He further stated he would recommend that Paul Adamson be <br />directed to expedite plans and specifications to accelerate construction schedule <br />for water improvements under bond financing, in order surplus can be calculated. <br />
