COMMUNICATIONS: <br />395 <br />Letter of appreciation from Miss Margaret Knight on <br />Council's commemorating memory of her brother, Sam <br />Knight. <br />Notification from Park & Recreation Commission of dedica- <br />tion ceremonies soon pending for new Recreation Building and <br />requesting permission from Council to accept responsibility <br />for arranging ceremonies, suggesting assistance from the Native <br />Sons of the Golden West. <br />Council asked that City Manager make a report and recommendation concerning proposed <br />dedication ceremonies for next Council meeting. (Memo 12/13/66) <br />Communication from Gail N. Stoddard, 1666 Connecticut <br />Drive, Redwood City, congratulating Council's program <br />on rebuilding and installing lights on tennis courts at <br />Community Park. <br />Keith C. Sorenson, 3717 Farm Hill Blvd., stating his <br />satisfaction over development of new and better facili- <br />ties for tennis in Redwood City. <br />California Association of Nurserymen, 1005 -8th St., Sacra- <br />mento, commenting on impressive beautification accom- <br />plished at entrance sign into the City. <br />Division of Highways notification of public hearing held <br />several years ago at which proposal presented for Wood- <br />side Road between E1 Camino Real and Route 280 freeway <br />whereby certain streets were scheduled for cross traffic <br />movements and reciting streets to be involved. <br />Councilman Rosselli asked communication be acknowledged and District Engineer, Alan <br />S. Hart, thanked for alerting City to proposal. He also asked whether it would be <br />possible to also ask for a preliminary presentation of Woodside :.Express proposed <br />improvements to be made in Redwood City at a public hearing. Councilman Henderson <br />stated from indications in communication State had been working with City Staff, <br />and asked if any consideration had been given to pedestrian crossings in order City <br />could be spared expense which should be appropriately assumed by State. (Memo 12/13/66) <br />League of California Cities reporting on administration <br />of Collier-Uhruh Gas Tax program. (copies previously <br />submitted to Council) <br />Council asked that Staff review and report. (Memo 12/13/66) <br />Community Cultural Coordinating Committee, Post Office <br />Box 556, Pacifica, asking support of San Mateo County <br />Park and Recreation Department's request of County <br />Board of Supervisors for additional lands to complete <br />the John Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. (copy submitted to <br />Councilman Keckley as related to subject of regional park <br />system.) <br />(Copy requested by Councilman Henderson) <br />Councilman Keckley stated he would like to extend invitation to Portola Valley for <br />their attendance at meeting scheduled for December 20th to hear report by Regional <br />Planning Commission. (Memo 12/13/66) <br />Councilman Keckley also asked that Council consider directing Staff to bring in <br />recommendation for placing a moratorium on all future annexations in City's adjacent <br />hillside areas until a plan can be developed by the Planning Staff for future develop- <br />ment of hill areas which he felt would result in a more orderly development and which <br />would also give property owners in the hillside areas prior knowledge of what can be <br />expected from the City. He suggested a 6 months, 1 year, or sixteen month period, <br />or at least until plan prepared and approved. <br />
