Councilman Rosselli expressed his approval of recommendation and suggested a two- <br />year period. Motion made by Councilman Keckley to direct Staff to make recommendation <br />concerning moratorium suggested, direct Staff to make recommendation concerning <br />moratorium suggested, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. City Clerk questioned status <br />of annexations now under way and which had been given previous approval by Council, <br />such as reactivation of Cordilleras, Upland, Upton area and Sequoia Hospital <br />annexation. Motion carried after further discussion as to recommendation for mora- <br />torium on proposed annexations in hillside areas, with exception of two annexations <br />already in process. (MINUTE ORDER #66-259) <br />City Clerk asked if communication from Ferris Miles <br />on subject of his appointment on Veterans Memorial <br />Commission should be read or referred to Council <br />Committee. <br />Paul Tessendorff asked that communication be read. <br />Vice -Mayor advised communication would be referred to Council Committee, and if <br />considered proper for discussion, a copy would be furnished to him, but this would <br />be a part of Council Committee report next week. Councilman Granger asked if <br />Mr. Tessendorff had submitted a letter of resignation, as had been reported. <br />Vice -Mayor stated letter had been received by him and content reported as to Mr. <br />Tessendorff's resignation, balance of communication not a part of this subject. <br />Councilman Granger reported that he had attended ceremony at Veterans Memorial <br />Building and accepted flags of the Capt, H. J. Reilly Camp No. 14, of United <br />Spanish War Veterans, and requested approval of Council for some appropriate place, <br />to be found for their safekeeping. He asked that Staff be authorized to take what- <br />ever steps necessary to preserve flags. <br />Councilman Henderson moved to accept report and authorize Staff to make a recommen- <br />dation for safekeeping of flags, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />(MINUTE ORDER #66-260) <br />Vice -Mayor Bury commented on the expressions of appreciation he had heard con- <br />cerning help given by City employees in trying to solve the difficult problems <br />arising in the slide area. <br />Councilman Rosselli commented on excellence of Christmas decorations on Broadway <br />but questioned lack of total lighting for proper display. <br />Councilman Henderson reported on her investigation of this situation and fact <br />each string of lights connected to separate buildings without a main control. <br />Councilman Rosselli suggested this subject be discussed again with Downtown Mer- <br />chants Association for a remedy next year. (Memo 12/13/66) <br />Police Chief Faulstich was asked if he had anything new to report on the hillside pro- <br />blem since his arrival at the meeting. Police Chief described the situation as <br />unchanged except for fact property owners had made arrangements for hauling of dirt <br />by a private contractor away from homes at lower level in hopes of relieving <br />pressure, and which was to be started immediately and continue through the night. <br />
