development, he envisioned, would be on the peninsula, one-third on the bay front, <br />and one-third on the coastal beaches. <br />He discussed the possible Federal Grants in aid of this program and emphasized <br />that whatever method is used to fund the program, it must be politically acceptable <br />to the participating entities and it must be a specific program. He asked for <br />recommendations and suggestions to the Park and Open Space Committee, and stated <br />that their report will be published as a complete package and distributed for <br />evaluation in order that they might secure an endorsement of the final program. <br />The presentation period was followed by a question and answer period, with ques- <br />tions being asked by representatives of the several cities, as well as interested <br />persons in the audience. <br />Ralph Shaw, spoke briefly on the need to provide maintenance and operation funding, <br />after the costs of acquisition and development have been met. After further general <br />discussion of means of financing the project, Mr. Keckley turned the meeting back <br />to Mayor Herkner, who urged that the cities and County develop effective liasion <br />with the Regional Planning Commission in order that the programs may be implemented. <br />The audience was invited to remain after adjournment to see a screening of the <br />pictures by the Redwood City Police Department of the recent slide in the Farm <br />Hill area.
