aerial photography to address all areas of study and rehabilitation. Hard and
digital (AutoCAD) copies of the topographic base mapping will be prepared and
provided for City records.
Task 3 — INITIAL DESIGN (50% AND 75% DESIGN SUBMITTAL)
The initial design will be used as the basis for the development of the Final
Design. The tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
Task 3.1 — Basis of Desion Memorandum
The Wood Rodgers Team will prepare for review a Basis of Design
Memorandum to summarize findings and recommendations for each deficiency
in each Alternative Reach. The Memorandum shall include at the minimum:
a) Structural and geotechnical criteria to be used for design
b) And the Refined Improvements Matrix that will include:
1. Identified channel deficiencies where additional geotechnical
exploration will be required
2. A description of deficiencies within each reach
3. The underlying cause of each deficiency
4. The recommended required repair or replacement to
address underlying cause (e.g. long term solution)
5. A recommended repair or replacement if different from 4
(e.g. short term solution if long term solution is impractical or
cost prohibitive).
6. A priority of each repair or replacement based on potential
impact to operation and public safety. This prioritization will
remain as consistent as possible with the 2012 Deficiency
Report.
The Wood Rodgers Team will coordinate with the City's previous consultants
regarding previous creek observations when necessary. Wood Rodgers will
pursue all avenues to communicate with previous consultants regarding previous
creek observations in order to leverage existing data, clarify report results, and
minimize duplication of services.
Task 3.2 — Geotechnical Reports
The Wood Rodgers Team will define the need for geotechnical assessment for
each repair based on observations of channel deficiencies during initial site visits
and recommendations outlined in the Basis of Design Memorandum. It is
anticipated that geotechnical exploration will be required for areas where
replacement of rectangular concrete channel is needed, and/or there is limited
right-of-way to complete concrete channel replacement and temporary shoring
will likely be required. Based on the site assessment completed by previous
consultants and current repair recommendations for the creek sections this will
require exploration at one location along Reach 1, and one location along Reach
2.
REV: 12.01-16 RL
ATTY/AGR.2016.325/Wood Rodgers, Inc.
