Councilman Bury questioned whether Southern Pacific maintained or provided
parking spaces in any other cities and was advised of only one area located
in San Bruno where property under joint ownership, that Southern Pacific
participated in maintenance. Motion lost on roll call vote, Councilmen Hen-
derson and Keckley voting yes, Councilmen Bury, Granger, Petersen, Rosselli
and Mayor Herkner voting no.
Councilman Keckley made motion that City Attorney be directed to start direct
action in amending Ordinance that would require Southern Pacific to furnish a
certain number of parking spaces in Redwood City, as required of other businesses,
seconded by Councilman Rosselli. Councilman Bury felt it would be better
policy of Council to ask that City Manager and City Attorney make a recommen-
dation after further investigation.
Councilman Keckley withdrew his original motion and moved that City Attorney
and City Manager report back to Council with their recommendations within
thirty days (May 22nd), seconded by Councilman Bury. Councilman Henderson
moved to amend the motion to require immediate repair of the parking lot.
Mayor Herkner ruled the amendment not applicable to the main motion, which
carried on roll call vote, Councilmen Bury, Henderson, Keckley, Petersen and
Mayor Herkner voting nes, Councilmen Granger and Rosselli voting no.
Staff and Jenks & Adamson recommend that bid be awarded to Dean C. Buehler,
Inc., the low bidder. It was also reported that McGuire & Hester had been
the apparent low bidder when bids were opened, but in checking of bids an
error in addition had been found in the bid submitted by Dean C. Buehler, Inc.,
which, when corrected, reduced their bid $1,000 and made it the lowest bid.
