72, <br />City Manager stated he had been asked to present this communication to Council <br />for consideration, but inasmuch as there were no representatives present from <br />this Commission, would ask whether Council desired this to be made an Agenda item <br />for next week, as some diversity of opinion had been expressed as to appropriate- <br />ness of this particular flower being designated as the City flower. -- <br />Councilman Henderson suggested this be referred to Staff for a recommendation <br />on appropriateness of such an action being taken. Mayor Herkner asked this <br />matter be referred to Staff for research and a report be submitted to Council. <br />(Memo 5/16/67) <br />Two communications on subject of Leased Housing Program <br />for San Mateo County now available from Federal Housing and <br />Urban Development, recommended by Human Resources Commission: <br />George T. Riley, Acting Director, County of San Mateo Human <br />Resources Commission, notifying City of the recommendation made <br />by this Commission on this program and urging Council's support <br />of a similar resolution as that adopted by the County Board of <br />Suprevisors authorizing such program. <br />Carl A. Smith, Director, Community House, Mid -Peninsula Chris- <br />tian Ministry, urging City Council to take immediate action to <br />allow the Housing Authority to function in this area with <br />regard to the proposed Leased Housing Program. <br />Mayor Herkner asked these communications be referred to the Legislative Com- <br />mittee for a recommendation. (Memo 5/16/67) <br />Communication from Reverend Ray Miller, Pastor, Redwood Hills <br />Baptist Church, congratulating the City of Redwood City on its <br />100th Anniversary Centennial Celebration. <br />Mrs. Elsie 0. Farquharson expressing her appreciation of Coun- <br />cil's expressions of sympathy extended to their family in their <br />bereavement. <br />Assemblyman Carl A. Britschgi expressing thanks for calling to <br />his attention Council's action relative to the Collier-Uhruh <br />Act and assuring Council he would do all possible to comply with <br />their wishes. <br />Councilman Bury commented on report submitted by Staff concerning dilapidated <br />building program proposed and felt Tribune should be notified because of the <br />article appearing in today's news concerning this matter.
