72, City Manager stated he had been asked to present this communication to Council for consideration, but inasmuch as there were no representatives present from this Commission, would ask whether Council desired this to be made an Agenda item for next week, as some diversity of opinion had been expressed as to appropriate- ness of this particular flower being designated as the City flower. -- Councilman Henderson suggested this be referred to Staff for a recommendation on appropriateness of such an action being taken. Mayor Herkner asked this matter be referred to Staff for research and a report be submitted to Council. (Memo 5/16/67) Two communications on subject of Leased Housing Program for San Mateo County now available from Federal Housing and Urban Development, recommended by Human Resources Commission: George T. Riley, Acting Director, County of San Mateo Human Resources Commission, notifying City of the recommendation made by this Commission on this program and urging Council's support of a similar resolution as that adopted by the County Board of Suprevisors authorizing such program. Carl A. Smith, Director, Community House, Mid -Peninsula Chris- tian Ministry, urging City Council to take immediate action to allow the Housing Authority to function in this area with regard to the proposed Leased Housing Program. Mayor Herkner asked these communications be referred to the Legislative Com- mittee for a recommendation. (Memo 5/16/67) Communication from Reverend Ray Miller, Pastor, Redwood Hills Baptist Church, congratulating the City of Redwood City on its 100th Anniversary Centennial Celebration. Mrs. Elsie 0. Farquharson expressing her appreciation of Coun- cil's expressions of sympathy extended to their family in their bereavement. Assemblyman Carl A. Britschgi expressing thanks for calling to his attention Council's action relative to the Collier-Uhruh Act and assuring Council he would do all possible to comply with their wishes. Councilman Bury commented on report submitted by Staff concerning dilapidated building program proposed and felt Tribune should be notified because of the article appearing in today's news concerning this matter.
