110 <br />The Mayor asked for information on the purchase of the two trucks requested, as <br />opposed to the payment of mileage for the permanent inspectors, which was ex- <br />plained by the City Manager. He stated further that it is his intention to set <br />up an equipment pool in order to utilize all City -owned equipment fully. This <br />will result in equipment being charged to the job, the district, or the fund, <br />which is making use of the equipment. After further discussion of the use of <br />City equipment, Councilman Henderson moved to approve the Engineering and Ad- <br />ministrative Budget with the exception of item at the bottom of Page 72, dealing <br />with the transfer of personnel, and the reclassification on Page 73, both items <br />to be considered later, seconded by Councilman Keckley. On the question, the <br />City Manager informed the Council that due to the very poor condition of the <br />survey crews' station wagon, a vehicle better adapted to this type of work <br />would be purchased from the Equipment Replacement Fund and requested an item of <br />$3300 to be shown in the budget for this purpose. (Memo 6/8/67) (MINUTE ORDER <br />#67-123-B) <br />In discussing the Streets and Storm Drain Budget, the City Manager recommended that <br />the capital expenditure items on Page 78 be amended to reduce the appropria- <br />tion for the bitumal sprayer to $4500 and include the street sweeper, which <br />was not previously recommended, at a cost of $13,500. He explained his reasons <br />for his change in thinking since submission of the Budget. After which, Coun- <br />cilman Rosselli moved to accept the recommendation of the City Manager on the <br />two equipment changes and approve the Streets and Storm Drain Budget, seconded <br />by Councilman Petersen and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #67-123-C) <br />The Building Services Budget was next considered. The City Manager explained the <br />additional duties now being undertaken by the Storekeeper II at the Corporation <br />Yard and that the Committee now recommends the reclassification requested at <br />the cost of $732. Councilman Keckley moved to approve this Budget with the <br />addition of the reclassification as recommended by the Manager in the amount <br />of $732.00, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried, Councilman Granger <br />voting no. (MINUTE ORDER #67-123-D) <br />The City Manager responded to the Council's questions relative to the operation of <br />the City Garage and stated that after the creation of the Equipment Pool, it <br />might be found necessary to employ an additional mechanic. In this event, he <br />stated, it was his present thinking that one of the 3 automotive servicemen could <br />be eliminated in favor of the more highly skilled mechanic. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to accept the Garage Budget, seconded by Councilman <br />Henderson and carried.
