unfortunates had never been sanctioned or approved by any City agency, as from
<br />all indications it appeared this operation grew within the building over a period
<br />of several years under Mr. McLaughlin's direction without request for approval of
<br />use from any City agency which could have been involved, namely the Planning and
<br />Building Departments.
<br />Report further reviewed the inspection of new location sites for this operation
<br />which had been made by the Building and Fire Department Staffs at the request of
<br />persons concerned, all of which had been denied as being deficient in specific re-
<br />quirements for providing adequate safe housing for proposed tenants. State and
<br />City regulations were specifically cited which contained the specific conditions
<br />required for operations of this type, as to licensing, regular inspections, etc.,
<br />by many State, County, and City agencies, all primarily concerned with safety,

<br />Councilman Keckley moved to accept report of the Chief Building Official and that
<br />a copy be submitted to the press, seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried.

<br />Councilman Granger called attention to the request by the County for a contribution
<br />from City's Hotel -Motel tax, and was informed this would be considered as an
<br />agenda item June 19th. (Memo 6/13/67)
<br />Councilman Keckley moved to adjourn to June 14, 1967, 7:30 p.m., Community Activities
<br />Building, 1400 Roosevelt Ave., for report of bid opening, Series B Bonds, GID
<br />lo64, and continued Budget Study, seconded by Councilman Bury and carried.

<br />Meeting called to order by Mayor Herkner at 7:30 P. M,.
<br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Robert H. Bury, Floyd D.
<br />Granger, Mary W. Henderson, Herbert G. Petersen, John S. Rosselli, Mayor Sidney
<br />D. Herkner & City Clerk Helen C. Moore. Councilman Paul C. Keckley was noted
<br />absent. Also noted present were City Manager Howard C. Ullrich, City Attorney
<br />Richard E. Gardella, and Assistant City Manager Henry V. Burget.'
<br />AWARD OF BIDS, Series B, GID 1-64, Bonds. The bid of the Bank of America N.T. & S.A.
<br />& Associates was read, being the only bid received, as follows:
