156 <br />Councilman Petersen thereafter defined on an illustrated chart, prepared by Police <br />Officer Truscelli, the proposed bus routing service of 5 routes recommended by the <br />Committee which would cover more of the City than is now serviced by the Peninsula <br />Transit Lines, and advised of the future considerations which could be given to addi- <br />tional lines for more complete cross -city circulation and transfers to feeder lines — <br />now recommended. He further reviewed the proposal for the centralization of bus <br />service operation at the Franklin Street parking lot and a possible future protec- <br />tive terminal structure to be owned by the City. <br />James Miller, 3015 Bayshore, questioned reason for Bayshore <br />area not being included in bus line service and reported on <br />number of residents, both inside and outside City limits, <br />in trailer parks in this area, requesting bus line service. <br />Councilman Petersen stated the Committee is well aware of this situation, but stated <br />there are problems involved for servicing a bus line on Bayshore which had not yet <br />been resolved and are still being studied with the thought of extending a route <br />through Lenolt area to the Bayshore trailer park areas. He stressed a point that <br />all routes as proposed from the chart are subject to further study. <br />Discussion and questions followed by Council members as to more details of pro- <br />posal on financing, storage of proposed mini -busses, and maintenance of equipment. <br />Councilman Bury questioned whether any consideration had been given by the <br />Committee for a tie-in with the School District, Chamber of Commerce promotional <br />programs, merchants, etc., for use of buses with some financial contribution, <br />as has been done in other cities. <br />After further discussion and questioning of points in the Committee's report and <br />recommendation, Councilman Bury moved to accept report and recommendations of <br />Committee with the request that Committee continue to review suggestions made, <br />seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #67-154) <br />Paul Tessendorff, 45 Claremont Ave., appeared in support of <br />proposed bus system. <br />Councilman Petersen questioned whether action implied Committee was authorized to <br />proceed on recommendations for drawing up bid specifications, making full financial <br />findings, etc., for a final presentation for Council, and indication was given the <br />motion as stated included all recommendations made by the Committee. <br />Report of Legislative Committee (Councilman Rosselli, Chairman) <br />Councilman Petersen, Member of Legislative Committee, read report of the Majority <br />Committee, in Councilman Rosselli's absence, which reviewed their reasons for recom- <br />mending Council's opposition to Senate Concurrent Resolution 41 (SCR 41) proposing <br />to create a joint committee on Bay Area Regional Organization to study various <br />aspects and possibilities of regional organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. <br />Councilman Petersen also reported that another member of the Committee had requested <br />permission to file a minority report.
