of the Society which telephones each resident to inquire if a dog is owned, which <br />practice must increase their operational costs. <br />Councilman Bury asked that County be requested to furnish a report on the kind of <br />service Redwood City was receiving in connection with this matter, as he felt costs are <br />arbitrarily high. Assistant City Manager advised this point had been questioned when <br />contact made with Society for further information and higher costs involved had <br />cited as main justification for raising fees and need for the basic ordinance <br />being uniform throughout the County. He stated they had advised this was not <br />out of line with similar ordinances throughout the State. City Attorney advised _ <br />ordinance proposed also raised the impoundment service rates. <br />Councilman Petersen also commented on distemper problem prevalent during impound- <br />ment of animals and asked if it would be possible to discuss this point with the <br />County for a solution as long as rates being raised. Traverso, 235 Belmont Avenue, Redwood City for personal <br />injuries alleged to have been caused by Police Department personnel, denied and <br />referred to insurance carrier on motion of Councilman Petersen, seconded by <br />Councilman Bury and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #67-172) <br />Councilman Bury moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5448 BEING RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO <br />MODIFY AND AMEND RESOLUTION NO. 4169 AS AMENDED, MODIFY ASSESSMENTS, MODIFY <br />ENGINEER'S REPORT, AND SETTING HEARING, SIERRA STREET -PALM AVENUE EXTENSION <br />IMPROVEMENTS, seconded by Councilman Petersen. <br />Council advised by Staff that Attorney for the District had submitted to the City <br />Engineer the approved assessments for this District and that resolution sets a <br />public hearing for Monday, September 11th, 1967. Motion carried on roll call <br />vote, Councilmen Henderson, Keckley & Rosselli being noted absent. <br />Mayor Herkner announced he had appointed Council Charter Committee, as suggested by <br />Council, comprising Vice -Mayor Robert Bury, Chairman, Councilmen Keckley and <br />Rosselli and 2 citizen -members, Ron Fields and Budd Stevenson, with City Attorney <br />assisting. <br />Councilman Petersen reported no meeting had as yet been held by the Council <br />Committee for review of Council minutes, as Chairman not stated. Mayor Herkner <br />stated Councilman Keckley would act as Chairman of this Committee. (copies previously submitted to Council) <br />Notification from Supervisor Joan Fassler of results of question- <br />naire regarding ABAG which had been submitted to various municipali- <br />ties within the County. (copies previously submitted to Council) <br />City of Palo Alto concerning action taken by their City Council for <br />establishment of a Palo Alto Human Relations Council. (copies pre- <br />viously submitted to Council. <br />Mayor Herkner asked that this communication be held for consideration when a full <br />Council is present, especially Councilman Rosselli because of his present repre- <br />sentation on the County Commission.
